We wondered through the night bazaar were
we found objects that were more relevant to the
local and authentic artistry. We visited antique
shops were old magnificent Buda’s waited to be

The porcelain and the noticeable celadon is
marvelous, string puppets, teak wood furniture,
the wood ornaments that adorn the small stores,
the food places are abundant, the typical dances
brightens the ambiance, the tuktuk (tricyclemotor
taxis) banged the ambience with its firework
sounds. The bars hosted foreigners that went to
have fun; intriguing loving and friendship rela-
tions established an atmosphere of everlasting
party that adorned a city that never sleeps.
We visited the town of Padaungs, known by
the “giraffe women”, their beauty is measured
by the amount of bronze rings that are around
their necks, inserted since they are very young,
adding more and more throughout the years to
lengthen their necks. It is considered as an ele-
ment of beauty, but when the woman is unfaithful,
the rings are taken away leaving a possible frac-
ture of the spine that may lead to death. In that
calm town where the houses rose above the rice
farms, the women threaded with strings by their
hips, they sale the wicker crafts and necklaces.
The greenhouses of orchids that offered a
great variety of their kind, colors of plants culti-
vated to perfection due to the excellent warm and
humid weather.

ellos se encuentra invita al visitante a la meditación.
Recorrimos el bazar nocturno donde se encuen-
tran los objetos más relevantes de la artesanía local
y visitamos las tiendas de antigüedades, donde unos
soberbios budas esperan a ser llevados al occidente.
La porcelana y notablemente Celadón, es maravi-
llosa, las marionetas, los muebles de teca, los obje-
tos de madera adornan las tienditas. Los puestos de
comida abundan. Los bailes típicos alegran el
ambiente; los tuktuk (taxis-moto de tres ruedas)
inflaman el ambiente con su intenso ruido de petar-
dos. Los bares reciben a los extranjeros que vienen a
divertirse; intrigas amorosas y amistosas se presen-
tan, una atmósfera de fiesta perpetua adorna a la
ciudad que nunca duerme.
Visitamos el pueblo de los Padaungs, conocidos
por sus “mujeres jirafas”, a quienes se les mide su
belleza por el número de anillos de bronce que tie-
nen alrededor del cuello, insertados desde niñas,
agregando más aros, poco a poco, para alargar el
cuello. Considerado como un elemento de belleza,
cuando una mujer comete un adulterio, se le retiran
los anillos, dejándola con la amenaza de fractura en
su columna vertebral, que la llevaría a su muerte. En
ese pueblo de gente apacible, donde las casas
se alzan al lado de los arrozales, las mujeres tejen
con el telar de cintura, venden sus artesanías de
mimbre o collares.
Los invernaderos de orquídeas ofrecen una gran
variedad en género y colores de plantas cultivadas
a la perfección debido a la excelencia del clima
caliente y húmedo.
