Un comienzo moderno
El modernismo surgió como subversión natural en
contra del sistema convencional, que algunos po-
drían llamar patriarcal. Estaba presente en la pintura,
la escultura, la literatura y, por supuesto, la arquitec-
tura. Todo lo establecido, y en general conservador,
comenzó a ser cuestionado y opuesto, y esto se tra-
dujo no sólo en las artes visuales, sino en un estilo
de vida que sólo las clases altas fueron capaces de
apreciar plenamente.
En el modernismo encontramos el verso libre en la
poesía, que busca una separación activa entre el libre al-
bedríoy la estructura apresadoradeun sonetoo rima; nos
encontramos con el cubismo en la pintura, que se com-
porta casi como un insurrecto anárquico abstracto contra
el realismo; el futurismo fue tambiénmuy influyente para
simbolizar los avances tecnológicos del nuevo siglo.
AModern Beginning
Modernism was born from natural subversion
against the conventional, some might call, pa-
triarchal system. It was present in painting,
sculpting, literature, and of course architecture.
Everything that was established and generally
conservative began to be questioned and op-
posed, and it translated not only in visual arts,
but into a lifestyle that only the upper classes
were able to fully appreciate.
In modernism we find the free verse in poetry,
seeking an active separation between free will and
the imprisoning structure of a sonnet or rhyme;
we find Cubism in painting, which behaved almost
as an abstract anarchical rioter against Realism;
Futurism was highly influential as well to epito-
mize the new century’s technology.
