Teresa I de Austria favorecía a Innsbruck como uno de
los lugares más hermosos en donde apreciar la natu-
raleza en todo su esplendor.
Además de ser un lugar de una belleza natural
única, Innsbruck es también un centro cultural
importante de Europa. La universidad de Innsbruck
fue fundada en 1669 y hoy es una de las universida-
des más importantes de Austria. Una buena parte de
la población de la ciudad son universitarios, lo que
ayuda a mantenerla vibrante y activa durante todo
el año.
Recorrido por la ciudad
Una visita a Innsbruck debe comenzar subiendo los
148 escalones de la torre de la ciudad. Desde ahí
puede disfrutar una vista panorámica de la ciudad: el
centro histórico a sus pies, donde destacan la facha-
da estilo rococó de la casa Heblinghaus, el Tejadillo
de oro y el Palacio Imperial. Una ciudad marcada por
siempre por el emperador Maximiliano I y la familia
Habsburgo. La vista continúa hacia la imponente
Cordillera Norte (Nordkette) y, en el horizonte, las
cumbres nevadas de los Alpes tiroleses. Después
puede dirigirse a la calle Maria-Theresien-Strasse, la
más importante de Innsbruck, para disfrutar de una
bebida caliente en el centro de la ciudad. Esta es una
extensa zona peatonal entre imponentes casas anti-
guas y modernas galerías comerciales. Aquí se
encuentra la Columna Annasäule y el Arco del Triunfo
(Triumphforte), monumento conmemorativo de los
acontecimientos que sucedieron en 1765. En ese año
el hijo de María Teresa, Leopoldo II, se casó con la

As well as being a place of a unique natural
beauty, Innsbruck is also an important cultural
center of Europe. The University of Innsbruck was
founded in 1669 and today is one of the most
important universities of Austria. A great part of
the population of the city is undergraduates,
which helps to keep it vibrant and active during all
year long.
City tour
A visit to Innsbruckmust begin climbing up the 148
stairs of the city tower. From there you can enjoy a
panoramic view of the city: the historical center to
its feet, where the rococo style facade of the
Heblinghaus house stands out, the Shed of gold and
the Imperial Palace. A city marked for always by the
emperor Maximilian I and the Habsburg family. The
view continues toward the imposing North
Mountain Chain (Nordkette) and, in the horizon, the
snowed peaks of the Tyrolese Alps. Afterwards you
may go to the street Maria-Theresien-Strasse, the
most important of Innsbruck, to enjoy a hot bever-
age in the city’s downtown.
This is a vast pedestrian zone between impres-
sive old houses and modern commercial galleries.
