n 1925, cuando el Orient Express llevaba sus pa-
sajeros desde Londres hacia Oriente Medio, un
gran hotel abría sus puertas para alojar a esos
adinerados pasajeros. Se les recibía con lujo y elegan-
cia, al estilo del más soberbio palacio real. A la suntuo-
sa fiesta de inauguración, la noche del 22 de abril de
1925, asistieron 200 invitados selectos.
El hotel era famoso por sus 200 habitaciones, 100
baños con agua caliente, su restaurante y salones. Su
misticismo y su encanto han sido comentados duran-
te generaciones. Siempre se le ha considerado como el
hotel más famoso, emblemático y elegante de Zagreb,
reconocido por la excelencia de su servicio y su legen-
daria hospitalidad. En él se alojaron invitados famosos
como Josephine Baker, Charles Lindbergh, Orson Wells,
Louis Amstrong, Woody Allen, el Rey de España Alfonso
XIII; pero es también el lugar favorito de la gente de ne-
gocios, periodistas, escritores y artistas. Se le ha llega-
do a considerar el hotel más romántico de Europa.

n 1925, when the Orient Express carried passen-
gers from London to the Middle East, a large ho-
tel opened its doors in Zagreb to accommodate
these wealthy passengers. They were received with
luxury and elegance, as the proudest royal palace.
200 distinguished guests attended the lavish open-
ing ceremony on the evening of April 22, 1925.
The hotel was famous for its 200 guest rooms, 100
bathrooms with hot water, its restaurant and lounges.
