En la tarde nos dirigimos hacia la ladera occidental del
volcán Arenal. Empezamos nuestra caminata por el sen-
dero Los Tucanes, atravesando la selva tropical y cruza-
mosunagran corrientede lavaquedatade1992. Tuvimos
atención para observar plantas, la vida silvestre y desde
lo alto del camino una vista espectacular del lago Arenal.
Alcanzamos un punto donde pudimos atestiguar
la furia de la ardiente lava que bajaba del volcán y ter-
minamos la excursión con un descanso en las aguas
termales. Una romántica cena nos esperaba en el
Sushi Amor para degustar sus rollos y su ceviche. Era
nuestra última noche en el Hotel & Spa Arenal Nayara,
gozábamos de los más variados ruidos de la selva tro-
pical, la lluvia refrescaba el ambiente y desde nuestro
jacuzzi en la terraza, disfrutamos del ambiente fran-
camente único, surrealista.
Cuarta noche: San José
Nos fue difícil dejar ese paraíso tropical donde
la mente reencontró una paz que nunca deberíamos
olvidar. Rumbo a San José visitamos el Spa natural El
Tabacón
), donde las aguas terma-
les bajan del volcán, creando un río de agua caliente
de donde sale el vapor, pozas donde es posible nadar
o simplemente descansar en esa agua benéfica para
el cuerpo y el espíritu. Es un hermoso lugar exótico
en medio de un jardín que bien pudiera ser el Edén,
donde el fruto prohibido nunca ha surgido y el tiempo
ha quedado plasmado en un maravilloso escenario: un
verdadero paraíso.
In the afternoon we visited the western slope of
the volcano. We started our hike down the trail” Los
Tucanes”, through the rain forest. We crossed a large
lava flow which dates from 1992. We were amazed to
observe theplants andwildlife and fromthe topof the
road, a spectacular viewof Lake Arenal.
We reached a point where we could witness the
fury of the blazing lava flowing down the volcano.
We then ended the tour with a dip in the hot springs.
A romantic dinner awaited us at the Sushi Amor Res-
taurantwherewe sampled the rolls andceviche. Itwas
our last night at the Arenal Nayara Hotel & Spa and
we were enjoying the most varied sounds from the
rainforest. Rain cooled the atmosphere and from the
Jacuzzi on the terrace, we enjoyed this unique atmo-
sphere, whichwas downright surreal.
Fourth night: San Jose
It was hard to leave this tropical paradise where
peace reunites with themind, somethingwe should
never forget. On our way to San Jose, we visited the
Natural Spa Tabacon (
), where we
saw hot springs flow down the volcano, creating a
warm river where steam pools and you can swim or
just relax body and spirit in the beneficial waters.
It is a beautiful exotic location amidst a garden
which could be described as Eden. The mystical lo-
cation where it seems like the forbidden fruit has
never arisen and time has been captured in a won-
derful setting: A real paradise.
