Desde hace muchos años se la conoce como la Ca-
pital Mundial del Pez Vela, pues en 1957 se capturaron
336 especies en sus aguas. Desde entonces es un sitio
de interés para todos los amantes de la pesca deportiva
debido a su gran cantidad de especies, entre las que
también se incluye el marlin, siendo por ello sede del
Torneo Internacional Dorsey desde 1954.
No hay que olvidar que además es uno de los princi-
pales puertos de México con constante actividad co-
mercial en sus muelles. La terminal portuaria cuenta
con tres posiciones de atraque (216, 229 y 60 m), con
profundidad de 9.5 a 12.5 metros, y recibe más de 1,200
buques por año.
Manzanillo fue el tercer puerto que crearon los espa-
ñoles en el Pacífico y se convirtió rápidamente en punto
de partida de numerosas expediciones marítimas. Por
ejemplo, allí llegó la legendaria
Nao de China
procedente de
Filipinas, con su valiosa carga de productos orientales.
Puerto Manzanillo
En diciembre de 1993 se constituye la Administración
Portuaria Integral de Manzanillo (API Manzanillo), ini-
ciando operaciones a partir del 2 de febrero de 1994. En-
tre sus funciones están la de administrar, promocionar,
construir, desarrollar y mantener la infraestructura del
Recinto Portuario de Manzanillo.
Este Recinto tiene una superficie de 437 hectáreas,
divididas en dos polígonos. El polígono 1 comprende 30.9
hectáreas, donde se ubica la terminal de Pemex y la futu-
ra terminal para el manejo de cruceros turísticos. El Polí-
gono 2, conocido como Puerto Interior de San Pedrito, es
donde se concentra el mayor desarrollo, con terminales e
instalaciones especializadas, así como la zona de reserva
portuaria para el futuro crecimiento del puerto.
Marina Las Hadas
La Marina Las Hadas ha enmarcado el maravilloso entor-
no de las Hadas Golf Resort & Marina, donde se llevan a
cabo eventos de trascendencia Internacional por el he-
cho de que Manzanillo es un sitio conocido como la Capi-
tal Mundial del Pez Vela. En Marina Las Hadas caben

One of the most important of these species is marlin,
which is why Manzanillo has been the site of the
International Dorsey Tournament since 1954.
We must not forget that it is, additionally, one of
Mexico’s major commercial ports, whose docks are a
constant center of activity. The port terminal has
three docking positions (216, 229 and 60 m), (216, 29
and 60 m a 708, 751 and 196 feet) with depths of 9.5
and 12.5 meters, (31 and 24 feet) and receives more
than 1,200 ships every year.
Manzanillo was the third port created by the
Spanish on the Pacific and it rapidly became an
important starting point for maritime expeditions.
For example, this is where the legendary Nao de China
arrived with its valuable cargo of Oriental products.
Puerto Manzanillo
In December 1993, the Administración Portuaria
Integral deManzanillo (APIManzanillo) (Harbormaster’s
Office) was built and began operations on February 2,
1994. Among its functions are the administration, pro-
motion, construction, development andmaintenance of
the infrastructure of Manzanillo’s ports.
This area, which covers 437 hectares, is divided in
