La Bahía de Santiago alberga las playas de La Audiencia,
Santiago, Olas Altas, Miramar y La Boquita.
Los principales resorts comienzan en Playa Azul y
posteriormente se encuentra la entrada a las playas La Au-
diencia y La Escondida, que albergan hoteles, casas y edi-
ficios maravillosos, construidos casi en su totalidad en un
blanco que contrasta con el azul del mar y el verde de los
cerros. Siguiendo hacia el sur encontrará la playa Santia-
go, con olasmás grandes, donde es común ver a los surfis-
tas practicando este deporte.
Pesca deportiva
Uno de los atractivos más importantes para el turismo que
llega aManzanillo es la pesca, ya que goza de fama interna-
cional por la facilidad con que aquí se practica este deporte.
La Pesca Deportiva de Altura es una modalidad que re-
quiere de embarcaciones de regular tamaño que sean pro-
picias para realizar recorridos de distancias mayores de 16
kilómetros, en mar abierto, donde la profundidad de las
aguas favorece la captura de ejemplares grandes, como el
pez vela, y el marlin en sus variedades negro, rayado y azul.
La ventaja de Manzanillo sobre otros puertos es que
aquí para capturar un ejemplar se necesita navegar mar
adentro solamente de 10 a 15minutos del punto de salida.
• Torneo Nacional de Pesca del Pez Vela
Se realiza anualmente (fecha movible).
Califican pez vela, marlin y dorado.
Las inscripciones están abiertas al público en gene-
ral y es organizado por el Club de Pesca Manzanillo.
• Torneo Internacional de Pesca de Pez Vela
Fines de noviembre.
Pueden participar todos los pescadores que lo de-
seen, debiendo registrarse previamente ante el Co-
mité Organizador del Club de Pesca de Manzanillo.

Playa Azul marks the starting point for the major
resorts, followed by entrances to La Audiencia and La
Escondida beaches, that shelter marvelous hotels,
homes and buildings, almost all white and contrast-
ing with the blue sea and the green hills. To the south
is Santiago Beach, with taller waves, where it is com-
mon to see surfers practicing this sport.
Sports Fishing
One of Manzanillo’s greatest tourism attractions is its
internationally renowned fishing.
Deep sea sports fishing requires regular-sized
boats that can go distances greater than 16 kilometers
(10 miles) in the open sea, where the depth of the
waters is propitious for reeling in large species like
sailfish and black, striped and blue marlin.
The advantage of Manzanillo over other ports is
that to catch a fish you only have to travel 10 to 15
minutes from where you started. To enjoy deep sea
sports fishing in other tourismdestinations you have
to sail two to three hours before reeling in a fish.
