uy cerca de la Puerta de Damasco, en
Jerusalén Este, surge un hotel único, seduc-
tor, inmerso en un jardín mágico con olor a
jazmín, con una gran historia y tradición. Desde la
entrada, las piedras de sus muros nos cuentan las
leyendas, losmomentos de felicidad, lasmiserias de los
duros tiempos, los destrozos y lamentos de las guerras.
La familia Spafford adquirió esa gran mansión en
1895 cuando se mudaron a Jerusalén, después de
sufrir la pérdida de cuatro hijas en un naufragio.
Formaron entonces un tipo de
Kibutz
autónomo, que
se volvió un peculiar hotel desde 1902.
Hoy día, es un
Relais & Chateaux y Leading Small
Hotels of the World
con elegantes salones, soberbias
habitaciones, su patio con olores orientales, su piscina
y el excelente restaurante “The Arabesque”. El bar es
el más famoso de Jerusalén, donde se encuentran los
periodistas y corresponsales de guerra así como la
gente famosa del mundo entero. En tiempos de con-
flictos, todo se dice y se hace en su intrigante ambien-
te y se mandan las noticias al mundo.

The family Spafford acquired that great man-
sion in 1895 when they moved to Jerusalem after
suffering the loss of four daughters in a shipwreck.
They formed a type of autonomous
Kibutz
that
became a peculiar hotel from 1902 then.
Nowadays, it is a

Small Hotels of the World
with elegant living rooms,
superb rooms, their patio with oriental scents,
their pool and the excellent restaurant "The
Arabesque". The bar is the most famous in
Jerusalem, where the journalists and correspon-
dents of war are as well as famous people of the
whole world. In time of conflicts, everything is
said and it is made in their intriguing atmosphere
and the news are sent to the world.
