En el mundo del antiguo Egipto, se vivía con la
obsesión de escapar a la muerte mediante la inco-
rruptibilidad, por lo que emplearon la madera de cedro
para construir ataúdes, bajeles, estatuas, amuletos...
En la época de reino de Judá, el cedro se consideraba
madera preciosa, era muy cotizada y alabada. El Rey
David vivía en un palacio de cedro, en cambio el Arca
de la Alianza todavía seguía en una tienda. Dijo el rey
al profeta Nathán:
“Mira ahora, yo moro en edificios de cedro y el Arca
de Dios está entre cortinas”. (2 Samuel 7,2)
Y esto fue lo que Salomón dijo ante la embajada
del rey fenicio Hiram de Tiro (actual Líbano), que le
fue enviada nada más saberse la noticia de que ha-
bía sido ungido rey:

of God dwells within curtains”. (2 Samuel 7.2)
And this is what Solomon said at the embassy of
the Phoenician king Hiram of Tyre (now Lebanon),
which was sent to distribute the news that he had
been anointed king:
