assimiliano Fuksas es uno de los
arquitectos italianos contempo-
ráneos más exitosos en el mundo.
Fuksas, junto con su esposa y socia
Doriana Mandrelli, dirigen su firma
de arquitectos desde sus despachos en Roma, París
y Shenzhen.
Hijo de padre lituano y madre italiana, Fuksas
nació en Roma el 9 de enero de 1944. Se recibió de
la Facultad de Arquitectura en la Universidad La Sa-
pienza de Roma. En 1967 abrió su primer despacho
(mientras cursaba sus últimos años de formación uni-
versitaria) y en 1985, creó la actual firma con Doriana
Mandrelli, también egresada de La Sapienza. De 1998
al 2000, fue director de la VII Exposición internacio-
nal de arquitectura: Menos estética y más ética de la
Bienal de Venecia.
Fue profesor visitante en diversas universidades
como la Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture en París, la Ac-
ademia de Bellas Artes de Viena y la Universidad de
Columbia en Nueva York. Desde el 2000, es autor de
la columna de arquitectura fundada por Bruno Zevi,
para la revista L’Espresso. A principios de este año, él
y su esposa comenzaron a escribir para la columna de
diseño del periódico la Reppublica.

assimiliano Fuksas is one of the
most successful contemporary
Italian architects in the world.
Fuksas along with his wife and
associate Doriana Mandrelli, di-
rect their architect firm from their Rome, Paris and
Shenzhen offices.
Son of a Lithuanian father and an Italianmother,
Fuksas was born in Rome on January 9 of 1944. He
graduated from the Architecture Faculty in La Sapi-
enza University of Rome. In 1967 he opened his first
office (while still studyinghis last years of university
education) and in 1985 he created the current firm
with Doriana Mandrelli, also graduated from La Sa-
pienza. From 1998 to 2000, he was director of the VII
International Architecture Exhibition: Less aesthet-
ics andmore ethics of the Biennale of Venice.
He was visiting teacher on several universities
like the Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, the
Academy of Fine Arts Vienna ant the Columbia Uni-
versity in New York. Since 2000, he is author of the
column of architecture founded by Bruno Zevi, for
L’Espresso magazine. At the beginning of this year
he and his wife startedwriting for the column of de-
sign of La Reppublica newspaper.
