Por otra parte, la
Fragata Magnífica

) anida en el interior de la espesura de las bromelias,
protegiendo sus nidos con las espinas de estas plantas.
Esta especie tiene la particularidad de que no se sumerge
para pescar su alimento, y utiliza la estrategia de hacerlo
con el pico rasando la superficie del agua, o bien robar las
presas de otras aves, como gaviotas, sulas, etcétera.
Otra especie común es el cormorán oliváceo, el cual se
agrupa en conjuntos pequeños en la parte expuesta de
la isla redonda, en ocasiones algunos individuos solitarios
se posan sobre rocas en el margen de las islas, mimeti-
zándose con el color oscuro de la roca volcánica que
forma las islas.
Resalta la presencia del sula pies azules (
Sula nebou-
xii
) a lo largo de todo el año, el cual se distingue de otras
especies de sulas por sus brillantes patas azules. Esta
especie anida abundantemente en las grandes islas del
