politano, we visited the Tupahue pool resort, where
you can enjoy a mural designed by John O’Gorman
and Mary Martner. We also visited the pool Antilén
at the tip of the Chacarillas hill. This park includes a
beautiful forest, a zoo and a botanical garden.
The Bellavista neighborhood, situated between the
MapochoRiverandSanCristóbalHill.Itusedtobearisto-
craticbutsuddenlybecamebohemian.Ithasnightclubs
where you can listen to Chilean music or jazz, trendy
shops and cultural centers. Pio Nono Street is its main
drag. Along the streets of Constitucion, Dardignac and
Antonia Lopez de Bello you will find fine dining restau-
rants, while on Loreto, you canfind the typical Peruvian
orChileanbarsandeateriesoccupyingbigoldhouses.
Later, we returned to the hotel and enjoyed the
wonderful spa and gym, relaxing the body and mind
after thehecticday.We alsoenjoyedamassage, andev-
erything youneed to feel innirvana, before diving into
the irresistible pool that crowns the building of the W.
We also had fun at the Red2one bar and the Whiskey
Blue.ThesearethefirstRandeGerber’sloungesinSouth
America. Theyare a crossbetweencutting-edgedesign,
high fashion, extravagant pieces of art and delicious
cocktails. We closed the day by dining inNoSo at theW
Hotel. This restaurant combines the elegance of French
cuisine with the lush flavor of Mediterranean cuisines,
undertheleadershipofJean-PaulBondouxandchefSe-
bastien Fontes. There is a selection of seafood, foie gras
with honey sauce and truffle cream, Patagonian lamb
with eggplant couscous andmeat a la parmentier with
Chileanpinot noir. Sauce. Of course.
Cuenta con un anfiteatro, una capilla y desde su mi-
rador se admira una soberbia vista de Santiago y de
Los Andes. En el Parque Metropolitano visitamos la
Tupahue, donde está el mural de Juan O’Gorman y Ma-
ría Martner, y la piscina Antilén en la punta del cerro
Chacarillas. Este parque incluye un hermoso bosque,
zoológico y jardín botánico.
El barrio de Bellavista, entre el río Mapocho y el
Cerro San Cristóbal, era aristocrático y se volvió bo-
hemio con bares populares, antros donde se escucha
la música chilena o jazz, centros culturales y tiendas
originales. La calle Pio Nono es su eje principal y en las
calles Constitución, Dardignac y Antonia López de Be-
llo hay restaurantes de alta cocina, mientras en la calle
Loreto encontramos los típicos peruanos o chilenos,
bares y fondas que ocupan casonas antiguas.
Regresamos al hotel a disfrutar del maravilloso
Spa y gimnasio para relajar el cuerpo y la mente des-
pués del agitado día (masajes, tratamientos y todo lo
necesario para sentirse en el nirvana) antes de sumer-
girnos en la irresistible piscina que corona el edificio
del W. Nos divertimos en el bar Red2one y en el Whis-
key Blue, primer lounge en Sudamérica de Rande Ger-
ber donde se cruzan un diseño de vanguardia, la alta
moda, extravagantes obras de arte y deliciosos cóc-
teles. Cerramos el día cenando en el NoSo (W Hotel),
que combina la elegancia de la cocina francesa con el
sabor exuberante de las cocinas mediterráneas, bajo
la jefatura de Jean-Paul Bondoux y el chef Sebastien
Fontes: selección de mariscos y pescados, foie gras
con salsa de miel y crema de trufa, cordero patagónico
con couscous de berenjenas y carne a la parmentier
con salsa de pinot noir chileno. Obvio.
