Día 3
Madrugamos para ir al gimnasio y ponernos en for-
ma antes de ir a esquiar. Escogimos Valle Nevado por
su inmensa pista de Ski y por su cercanía, a sólo 44
Km. Claro que existen otras estaciones como Portillo,
El Colorado, La Parva, Farallones, Lagunillas, Laguna
Verde, cada una con su atractivo particular. Recorri-
mos una hermosa barranca y luego alcanzamos Valle
Nevado, que nos regaló una visión de la cordillera tan
imponente que anula cualquier soberbia.
Valle Nevado ofrece la mayor extensión esquiable
de Sudamérica. Tiene 37 Km de pistas bien cuidadas,
3 hoteles y ocho restaurantes. Las rutas de Ski están
clasificadas por colores según su grado de dificultad;
las negras son las más retadoras y emocionantes. El
día vestía de cielo azul y sol brillante, así que disfruta-
mos las pistas negras. Y como el ejercicio da hambre,
nos detuvimos para comer en “La Fourchette d’Or”
(El Tenedor de Oro), restaurante gourmet con el más
exquisito menú. Fue un día maravilloso, inolvidable, a
sólo una hora de Santiago.
Llegamos al W Hotel muy cansados y subimos a re-
lajarnos en su piscina, a recibir un reparador masaje y
así estar listos para ir a cenar en La Casa de Cena. Sirven
Picoteo, coctel de camarones, ostiones pil pil, ciervo a
la cazadora, salmón en su jugo, un maravilloso tirami-
sú, todo acompañado por vino de las bodegas Altair, de
las mejores en la región. Luego fuimos a divertirnos en
“Sala Murano”, una de las discotecas preferidas por las
estrellas de la farándula, con muy buen ambiente.
Day3
We woke up early to go to the gym and get in shape
before going skiing. Only 44 Km from Santiago, we
choose Valle Nevado ski resort because of its great
slopes. Of course there are other ski resorts, as Por-
tillo, El Colorado, La Parva, Farallones, Lagunillas,
Laguna Verde, each with its own particular attrac-
tion. We toured a beautiful canyon and reachedValle
Nevado. The view of the mountains is awesome. It is
a humbling experience.
Valle Nevado offers the largest ski area in South
America. It has 37 km of well-maintained tracks,
three hotels and eight restaurants. Ski routes are
color-coded according to their degree of difficulty,
black being the most challenging and exciting. The
sky was blue and the sun was shining. We truly en-
joyed the black slopes. Since exercise makes you
hungry, we stopped to eat at “La Fourchette d’Or”
(The Golden Fork), a restaurant with themost exqui-
site gourmet menu. It was a wonderful day, unfor-
gettable and just an hour drive from Santiago.
We arrived back at the W Hotel and decided to
relax in the pool, and refresh in order to be ready to
go to dinner to La Casa de Cena. They serve Picoteo,
shrimp cocktail, pil oysters , deer a la Cazadora,
salmon au jus, and a wonderful tiramisu, all accom-
panied by wine from the Altair cellars, the best in
the region. After dinner we went to have some fun
at “Sala Murano,” one of the disco clubs favored by
the stars with a great atmosphere
