hermosas mansiones adornan la ciudad de invierno en las
colinas, escondidas entre una vegetación de jardines extra-
vagantes, pasando del estilomasivo al hispano-morisco. La
ciudad de verano es la parte baja, a la orilla del mar, con el
casino construido en 1853, su paseo marítimo, sus mari-
nas, sus cafés y restaurantes, sus tiendas y la basílica, con
su capilla de los marineros, cuyos muros se encuentran
tapizados de exvotos para agradecerle a la virgen milagro-
sa. En la parte este encontramos las casas bajas con techo
de tejas donde vivían los pescadores.
Arcachon hechiza por su clima marítimo y el aire del
Atlántico, seduce por sus calles sombreadas y su ele-
gancia, sorprende por su Bassin y su misterioso ecosis-
tema. A la entrada del Bassin, el cabo Ferret se ha vuelto
un lugar exclusivo de casas elegantes.
Arcachon-Bordeaux
El mal tiempo nos obligó a dejar el yate en Arcachon y
alcanzar Bordeaux por tierra, a 60 km, mientras que por
mar tendríamos que haber dado una larga vuelta hasta
la punta de la Grave para penetrar en el Estuario de la
Gironde, donde desembocan los ríos Garonne y
Dordogne, y seguir por la Garonne para llegar al puerto
de Bordeaux, que recibe grandes buques.
Bordeaux, capital mundial del vino, es una autén-
tica ciudad señorial con sus elegantes palacetes del
siglo XVIII que visten de lujo la orilla del río, y adornan

and Atlantic air, seduces with its shady streets and ele-
gance, amazes with its Bassin and mysterious ecosys-
tem. At the entrance of the Bassin, the Ferret Cape has
become a place of exclusive, stylish homes.
Arcachon-Bordeaux
Bad weather obligated us to leave the yacht in Arcachon
and reach Bordeaux, 60 km (37 mi) away, by land while,
by sea, we would have had to make a long journey to the
de la Grave point to enter the de la Gironde estuary, into
which the Garonne and Dordogne rivers flow, and follow
the Garonne to reach the Bordeaux port, which receives
great ships.
Bordeaux, the world’s capital of wine, is an authentic
majestic city with elegant mansions of the 18 th century
