que surgen tormentosos ríos que bajan de los glacia-
res. Observamos cuatro osos grizzlis comiendo en el
estuario, atentos a nuestros desplazamientos, mien-
tras otros dos caminaban en un deslave de hielo. Es
un animal impresionante y tuvimos la suerte de vivir
la experiencia de la cercanía de uno de ellos, se acer-
có tanto que sólo el río nos separaba de él.
Pasando Heikish Narrows, estrecho pasaje donde
observamos un león marino en una roca, penetramos
en Kynoch Inlet, largo fiordo angosto donde encon-
tramos una cascada digna de leyendas, donde el
agua cae abruptamente en el mar. El velero se acercó
hasta meter la proa dentro de la cascada, provocan-
do fuertes emociones, propias de las más exóticas
aventuras. Anclamos al final de Kynoch Inlet, reco-
rriendo Culpepper Lagoon en zodiac, donde los gan-
sos habían elegido domicilio.
De Kynoch Inlet a Khutze Inlet
De regreso por Sheep Channel encontramos seis
marsopas

que nos acompañaron un
rato, jugueteando con la proa del velero. Entramos en
Carter Bay, donde sale a superficie la proa del S.S.
Ohio que naufragó hace más de 100 años.
Caminamos a lo largo del río por el misterioso bosque
húmedo de cuentos de hadas antes de seguir nues-
tro recorrido por Princess Royal Channel y entrar en
Khutze Inlet, donde anclamos para pasar la noche,
frente a una hermosa cascada, dentro de esa suntuo-
sa bahía dominada por las montañas blancas.
Exploramos el estuario en kayak, entrando en
un brazo del río, y de repente nos encontramos con
dos jóvenes osos grizzlis comiendo en el pasto y

in the estuary, all fully aware of our movements,
while other two animals walked over an ice patch.
They are impressive beasts; in fact, we were lucky
to be able to walk near them; we got so close that
only a river separated us.
Passing Heikish Narrows, a tight passage
where we observe a sea lion perched on a rock, we
enter Kynoch Inlet, a long, narrow fjord where we
encounter a waterfall worthy of legend, a cascade
plunging abruptly into the sea. The sailboat got
close enough to stick the bow into the waterfall,
causing strong emotions typical of the most exot-
ic adventures. We anchored at the end of Kynoch
Inlet, sailed

across Culpepper Lagoon,
where many geese had chosen to reside.
FromKynoch Inlet to Khutze Inlet
Returning along Sheep Channel, we came across
six porpoises that accompanied us for a time, play-
ing with the bow of the sailboat. We entered Carter
Bay, where the surface of the S.S. Ohio’s bow can be
seen, a ship that sunk here more than 100 years
ago. We walked along the river in the storybook
rainforest before beginning a tour of Princess
Royal Channel and then entering Khutze Inlet,
where we anchored in front of a beautiful waterfall
and spent the night in the lovely bay surrounded
by white-capped mountains.
We searched the estuary in kayak, entering in
an offshoot of the river when we suddenly discov-
ered two young grizzly bears playing and eating
