the jungle, with the purpose of raisingmoney andbuild
and opera in the jungle. The Fitzcarraldo house adorns
the Tarapacá jetty, and it is an excellent restaurant,
the ex –hotel Palace displays its tiles and balconies of
yore, when the Choen house was a store, and the Fierro
house reached Iquitos. This house, designed by the
FrenchmanG. Eiffel, was cosntructed inBelgium, exhib-
ited inthe international Parisexposition in1899, bough
by the rubber worker Baca Diez, partner of Fitzcarrald
and, facing the impossibility of taking it further up the
Ucayali river, sold it to Anselmo Aguilar, who rebuilt it
in the Arms plaza of Iquitos. The history of this glorious
epochwouldmakemedreamasIdiscoveredtheancient
mansions, the neighborhood of Belén, with its houses
constructedon topof piles, themarketwith itsmedicinal
products from the jungle, or dining in the floating
restaurant “Al Frío y al Fuego.”
Finally, I boarded the elegant 12-suite “Aqua” ship
to navigate through the jungle, enjoying a wonderful
cabin, the excellent food from chef Pedro Miguel Schiaf-
fino, aswell as the fantastic guides and staff of the ship.
Navigating through the Amazon
On the first day, we explored the Huaysi canal and the
blackTahuayoriverbyboat,untilwearrivedattheCharo
lake, observing the life of the fishermen and the birds;
blackbirds, hawks, tropical canorous, monkeys and sloths.
This is where the Aqua begins its journey, and where

y frente a la imposibilidad de llevarlamás allá del río Uca-
yali, la vendió a Anselmo Aguilar quién la armó en la plaza
de Armas de Iquitos. Las historias de esa gloriosa época me
hacían soñar mientras descubría las antiguas mansio-
nes, el barrio de Belén con sus casas construidas sobre
pilotes, el mercado con sus productos medicinales de la
selva o cenando en el restaurante flotante “Al Frío y
al Fuego”.
Finalmente abordé el elegante barco “Aqua” de 12
suites para navegar por la selva, gozando de un ma-
ravilloso camarote, de la excelente comida del chef
Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, así como de los fantásticos
guías y el staff del barco.
Navegando por el Amazonas
El primer día exploramos en lancha el canal Huaysi y el río
negroTahuayohasta llegar a lagoCharo, observando la vida
de los pescadores y los pájaros; mirlos, halcones, canoras
tropicales, monos y perezosos. En este sitio fue dónde el
