Visitamos el barrio San Isidro y el centro con sus
casas coloniales, su imponente catedral, sus hermosas
iglesias y conventos como los de Santo Domingo y San
Francisco, y su plaza de Armas. Es un placer descubrir
el centro de Lima y recorrer sus calles coloniales. El en-
canto turístico de Lima también puede verse en la Huaca
Pucllana, una pirámide de adobe erigida por los pobladores
de la cultura Lima entre 200 y 700 d.C.
Aquí, nos embarcamos en nuestro yate para recorrer
la costa norte, saliendo desde el puerto del Callao, para
descubrir una costa desértica bajo la neblina donde nun-
ca llueve. Las largas playas desfilaron en nuestro paseo
hasta Trujillo sin parar, develando la belleza de la Sierra
Blanca que no pudimos admirar por falta de tiempo.

Desembarcamos al día siguiente en la marina de Huan-
chaco, donde descubrimos las famosas embarcaciones
de totora (largo pasto peruano); estas monoplazas son
idénticas a las de los antiguos habitantes y actualmente
se usan para pescar. Visitamos las ruinas de Chan Chan
que fue una imponente ciudad de adobe construida
por los Chimú a partir del siglo IX y donde destacan
los recintos fortificados. Ahí admiramos los decorados
labrados en el adobe y la extensión de esa antigua ciudad
prehispánica perfectamente planeada. Llegamos a la

colonial streets. We also had time to visit the Huaca
Pucllana, an adobe pyramid erected by the people of
Lima between the years 200 and 700 d.C.

to discover a deserted beach covered by a cloud of mist.
The long beaches where a permanent sight until our
arrival to Trujillo, overlooking the beauty of the Sierra
Blanca thatwe couldnot visit givenour tight schedule.

We disembarked the next day at the Huanchacomarina,
where we discovered the famous totora embankments
(long Peruvian grass); these single-seater’s are identical
to the ones used by ancient habitants, and they cur-
rently serve as fishing vessels.We visited the ChanChan
ruins that was an important adobe city constructed by
the Chimú in the 9th century, and where fortified spaces
stand out. There we admired the decorations traced
on adobe, and the extension of this ancient, perfectly
