sorprendente rapidez. Después del almuerzo, dejando
los delfines atrás, empezamos nuestra navegación
río abajo hacia Iquitos, que alcanzamos a la mañana
siguiente. En la tarde visitamos un pequeño río bajo
la lluvia y nos reconfortamos con la exquisita cena de
despedida con la sorpresa de descubrir que nuestra
tripulación formaba una pequeña fiesta para nosotros.
Amanecimos en Iquitos, donde con nuestra lancha
navegamos por el río Momón para interactuar con la
tribu de los Boras que mantiene sus raíces y tradicio-
nes, ofreciéndonos un baile típico y sus artesanías.
Después de la comida, abandonamos el Aqua con
tristeza, llenos de buenos recuerdos y tomamos el
vuelo de Lanque nos llevó de regreso a Lima. Dejábamos
la selva, el infierno verde lleno de leyendas y fauna,
donde flota el recuerdo del auge del caucho y de la
banda de Fitzcarraldo.
Lima
La capital peruana se encuentra casi siempre bajo una
brumaque cubre la costadebidoa la corrientedeHumboldt
que recorre el pacífico desde el Polo Sur, trayendo agua
fría. Sus playas son largas, con olas ideales para el surf,
delimitadas por un acantilado donde se instaló el encan-
tador barrio de Miraflores, sitio donde se encuentran
elegantes casas y tiendas, el centro comercial Larco Mar,
el Miraflores Park Hotel Orient-Express y su excelente
restaurante Mesa 18.

of dolphins behind us, and began our journey through
downstream, towards Iquitos, which we reached the
following morning. In the afternoon we visited a
small river under the rain, and enjoyed an excellent
farewell dinner, thoroughly surprised that the crew
was setting up a small festivity for us as we dined.
We awoke at Iquitos, where our vessel travelled
through theMomón River to interact with themem-
bers of the Boras tribe, who delighted us with their
traditional dance routines and arts and crafts. After
lunch, we sadly parted ways we the Aqua, yet graceful
that it has provided us with many memorable
moments. We took a plane to Lanque, which then
took us to Lima. We left the jungle, full of legend
and fauna, where the memory of the Fitzcarraldo
band will forever linger.
Lima
The capital finds itself usuallyunder the cover of clouds
due to the Humboldt current that travels through the
Pacific, down to the South Pole, bringing with it a flow
of coldwater. Its beaches are ample, withwaves suitable
for surfing, and are bordered by a cliff where the charm-
ing Miraflores neighbourhood is found. Here one can
observe elegant and picturesque houses and shops, the
Larco Mar shopping mall, the Miraflores Park Hotel
Orient- Express, and its excellentMesa 18 restaurant.
