Siguiendo la navegación por la orilla del árido desierto,
pasamos largas playas, contornamos el cabo de Bayovar
para zarpar dentro de la inmensa bahía hasta alcanzar
una costa rocosa y árida y llegar el hermoso puerto pes-
quero de Paita con sus casas típicas coloridas, fundado
en 1532 por Pizarro, y donde se exilió la amante de Si-
món Bolívar, Manuela Sáenz, famosa activista del movi-
miento libertador, cuya sencilla casa se puede visitar. La
bahía está adornada por una gran cantidad de lanchas, el
puerto vibra bajo el sol y la gente pasea a la sombra de
sus calles y de la plaza arbolada.
Más adelante alcanzamos la playa de Colán, don-
de se ostentan casas de madera sobre pilotes lami-
dos por las tranquilas olas que desafían las palmas de
coco. Este lugar es hogar de La iglesia de San Lucas de
Colán, que data del siglo XVI cuando desembarcaron
los españoles. Pasamos la playa de Bocana, tapizada
con una alfombra de miles de cangrejos rojos. Ésta es
la desembocadura del río Chira que irriga los fértiles
llanos de Sullana para seguir la costa más montañosa
y todavía muy árida.
El trayecto nos llevó a pasar por Talara, un puerto
comercial muy importante, al igual que zarpar hasta
Cabo Blanco, un pequeño astillero encantador que
luce la casa que habitó Hemingway cuando filmaron la
película “El viejo y el mar”. Aquí, descubrimos la playa
Órganos y Máncora, la playa de moda en esa Costa del
Sol peruana, y puede verse porque, en Máncora, pue-
blo vibra con una vida de ocio, restaurantes y hote-
les, tiendas, bares y lujosas casas a la orilla del mar.

Following our designated course through the edges
of the arid desert, we passed along beaches, circum-
scribe the capeof Bayovar to sail inside the immense
bay to reach the rocky and arid coast and arrive at
the gorgeous fishing town of Paita, founded in 1532
by Pizarro, and where one can visit the house of Si-
mon de Bolivar’s lover, Manuela Sáenz, a famous ac-
tivist of the freedommovement, who sought refuge
after exiling herself. The bay is adorned by adorned
by a large number of boats, and the port shimmers
under the sun, while the people walk the streets un-
der the cover of trees.
Further in we reached the Colán beach, where
raised houses dot the landscape in order to avoid
the waves that crash into the palm trees. This is the
home of the church of San Lucas of Colán, built in
the 16th century, when the Spaniards arrives. We
passed Bocana beach, covered by thousands of red
crabs. This is the mouth of the Chira River that irri-
gates the fertile plains of Sullana to make its way to
the more mountainous and more arid coast.
Our journey took us to Talara, an important
commercial port, and from there to Cabo Blanco,
a charming shipyard that harbors the home that
Hemingway resided in during the filming of “The
Old Man and the Sea”. Here we discovered the Ór-
ganos and Mánorca beaches, the most fashionable
spot in the Peruvian Costa del Sol. The town of Mán-
cor vibrates with a hedonistic lifestyles, swanky
hotels and restaurants, shops, bars and luxurious
beachfront houses. We were able to the excellent
