s complicado imaginar el inicio de algo que ya
encontramos establecido, algo que ha sido
creado y se levanta orgulloso, inminente e in-
timidante. Una ciudad que por sí sola define el signifi-
cado cosmopolita, que llena los sentidos con sus mo-
vimientos. Su historia permanece tangible hasta hoy.
La instauración de Nueva York tomó varios siglos y
empezó con la ocupación del territorio por tribus indias
norteamericanas. Esta tierra fue explorada por el na-
vegante Giovanni da Verrazano en 1524, que estaba al
servicio de la corona francesa, pero después de casi 70
años, el británico Henry Hudson llegó a las aguas de un
conocido río que llevaría su nombre, para que este des-
cubrimiento empezara a tomar forma. “Estas tierras se-
rán lucrativas para aquellos que se atrevan a aventurarse
en ellas”. Hudson no erró. Durante su descubrimiento,

t’s complicated to imagine the beginning of a
thing that is already established, that has been
created and rises, proudly, imminently, and in-
timidating. A city that, by itself, defines “cosmopol-
itan,” that overwhelms the senses with its move-
ments. Its story remains tangible to this day.
The establishment of New York City took several
years, and began with the occupation of the territory
by Native American tribes. These lands where explored
by the navigator Giovanni da Verrazano in 1524, who
as the service of the French crown, yet, after almost 70
years,itwastheEnglishmanHenryHudsonwhoarrived
at the waters of a river that would bear his name, and
who began a journey that formed a proper expedition.
