Los nuevos inmigrantes
Los inmigrantes son los que hicieron de Nueva York
una ciudad del mundo. Las culturas, tradiciones y
creencias de los extranjeros contribuyeron a la na-
turaleza mundana de la ciudad. Cada persona que
posaba sus ojos en la Estatua de la Libertad senti-
ría la promesa de un nuevo comienzo, todos con una
historia, un nombre y una familia que había sido o
debía ser olvidada. Estos hombres y mujeres, niños
y niñas confiaron en Nueva York y a cambio de su sa-
crificio y ciegas expectativas de una vida mejor, esta
tierra prometida les cumplió con audacia, los llevó a
sus límites y crearon una cultura tan única. Su valor
es palpable en la actualidad.
The new immigrants
Immigrants are what made New York City a city of
the world. The cultures, traditions, and beliefs of
those who came from abroad contributed to the
worldly nature of the city. Each person that laid
its eyes on the Statue of Liberty felt the promise
of a fresh start, each one carrying within a story, a
name, and the memory of a family that had been, or
should had been forgotten. These men and women,
boys and girls, trusted in NewYork, and in return for
their sacrifice and blind expectations of a better life,
the land gave back to them, pushed them to their
limits, and thus created a unique culture. Its value
is palatable to this day.
