El viajero puede dejarse absorber por el caos y si
el asombro le deja tiempo tendrá que visitar el
Museo Egipcio, donde entre otras maravillas podrá
ver la estatua de Kefrén, el friso de las ocas de
Meidun y el tesoro de Tutankamon. O el Museo de
Arte Islámico, las mezquitas Amr, Ibn-Tulum, El-
Aqmar Mehemet Alí, las iglesias de San Sergio,
Santa Bárbara. O la Ciudad de los Muertos, con su
albergue de caravanas y los numerosos y maravillo-
sos zocos y cafés.
Luxor
Es la antigua Tebas y alberga en la orilla derecha del
Nilo dos joyas del arte egipcio: los templos de Luxor
y Karnak. En este último se representa a diario un
espectáculo de luz y sonido, en todos los idiomas
que nos cuenta la historia de estos monumentos. En
la orilla izquierda del río se encuentran importantes
restos arqueológicos, como los colosos de Memnón,
el Valle de las Reinas y el de los Reyes, y el templo
funerario de Deir el-Bahari, edificado en honor de la
reina Hatshepsut. Descendiendo por el río Nilo, antes
de llegar a Assuán, se encontrará con los templos de
Esna, Edfu y Kom-Ombo.

Old Cairo is a walled maze of streets wending
their narrow way through tented bazaars in
which one can purchase any object under the
sun. Having over four hundred mosques, the
chant of the Muezzin wafts the sultry air.
One should go with the flow and absorb the
luxurious chaos. One should also take time to
visit the Egyptian Museum and, amongst many
other marvels, gaze in wonder at Tutankamun’s
treasure, the statue of Kefren and the goose
frieze of Meidun. Other sights are the Museumof
Islamic Art, the mosques of Amir, Ibn-Tulum and
El-Aqmar and the churches of St. Serge and St.
Barbara. Do not pass by the City of the Dead and
the Citadel with its caravans and cafes.
Luxor
On the right bank of the Nile lie ancient Thebes
and the jewels of Luxor and Karnak. At the latter
there is a daily evening light and sound specta-
cle in Arab, English, French and German, telling
the tale of these monuments. On the left bank
are the archaeological remains of Memnon, the
Valleys of the Kings and Queens and the funerary
