Villa della Tremezzina,

name is related with an old convent, “Coenobium”,
that was located in the place that today is the inter-
nationally famous hotel Villa d’Este.
In the paving stoned main street of the town
you will find endless coffee shops and luxury bou-
tiques. There is also a broad selection of restau-
rants and pizza shops for every occasion. Along
the river bank in Cernobbio there is a picturesque
square with bars and restaurants.
Fromthe village you can take a tourwith specta-
cular views up to theMonte Bisbino (1325m). In this
route you may visit several attractions, such as the
Buco della Volpe, a great cave with swimming pools
and underground springs. There is the beautiful
sanctuary to theVirginMary at the top of themoun-
tain, which comes from the XVth century. From
these heights, the view to the lake is impressive:
only from the heights is possible to really apprecia-
te the incomparable beauty of this place.
Cernobbio is also the starting point of anot-
her famous mountain route, the Via dei Monti
Lariani, a large tour at heights which oscillate
between the 600 and 1200 m, signalized comple-
tely by the Club Alpino of Italy.
Villa d'Este
The historic building that houses this hotel was
built for the cardinal Tolomeo Gallio in the XVIth
century, but its actual name is owed to the prin-
cess Caroline of Brunswich, descendant of Guelfo
d’Este, who in 1815 established his residence in

En la adoquinada calle principal del pueblo pue-
den encontrarse innumerables cafés y boutiques de
lujo. También hay una amplia selección de restauran-
tes y pizzerías para cada ocasión. A lo largo de la
ribera del lago en Cernobbio se encuentra una plaza
pintoresca con bares y restaurantes.
Desde el pueblo puede tomarse una ruta con
espectaculares vistas hasta el Monte Bisbino
(1325m). En esta ruta pueden visitarse diversas
atracciones, tales como el Buco della Volpe, una gran
cueva con albercas y arroyos subterráneos. En la
cima de la montaña se encuentra el hermoso san-
tuario a la Virgen María, que data del s. XV. Desde
estas alturas, la vista al lago es impresionante: sólo
desde las alturas es posible apreciar realmente la
incomparable belleza de este lugar.
Cernobbio es también el punto de partida de otra
famosarutademontaña,laViadeiMontiLariani,unlargo
recorrido a alturas que oscilan entre los 600 y 1200 m,

Villa d'Este
El histórico edificio que alberga a este hotel fue
construido para el cardenal Tolomeo Gallio en el s.
XVI, pero su actual nombre se debe a la princesa
Caroline de Brunswich, descendiente de Guelfo
d’Este, quien en 1815 estableció su residencia en
este lugar. Desde entonces, la villa pasó por diver-
sos propietarios hasta que fue renovada y conver-
tida en un hotel de lujo. El edificio cuenta con una
