cathedral of Saint Barbara, patron saint of the
miners (1388).
Other interesting buildings in this medieval
city are the ancient mint called Italian Court
(XIIIth century) and the Hrádek building, which
is part of the old municipal fortress and houses
the miner museum. Part of the exhibition con-
sists in visiting one of the medieval mines.
A very peculiar place in the city’s surround-
ing areas is the monastic church in the Sedlec
quarter, with a rare ossuary formed exclusively
by human bones. This special and gloomy place
holds approximately 40 thousand human skele-
tons, artistically placed to form the decoration
ant the chapel’s furnishing.

Otros edificios interesantes de esta ciudad
medieval son la antigua casa de la moneda llama-
da Corte Italiana (siglo XIII) y el edificio de Hrádek,
que forma parte de la antigua fortificación muni-
cipal y alberga el museo minero. Una parte
de la exposición consiste en visitar una de
las minas medievales.
Un lugar muy peculiar en las inmediaciones
de la ciudad es la iglesia monástica en el barrio de
Sedlec, con un raro osario formado exclusivamente
por huesos humanos. Este especial y lúgubre lugar
contiene aproximadamente 40 mil esqueletos
humanos, colocados artísticamente para formar la
decoración y el mobiliario de la capilla.
