El Homo de Valencia
Marco de la Rasilla, profesor e investigador de Prehis-
toria de la Universidad de Oviedo, refiere que dados los
vestigios del
Homo neanderthalensis
hallados en Euro-
pa, se cree que los neandertales aparecieron en esta
región hace 230,000 años y se extinguieron hace unos
35,000 años.
En La Cova del Bolmor, un yacimiento arqueológi-
co situado 2 km al sureste de Tavernes de la Valldigna,
en la Comunidad Valenciana, se encontraron los restos
más antiguos del hombre de Neandertal, datados en el
Paleolítico inferior; se trata de herramientas y huesos
de presas que fueron fechadas en el 350,000 a.C. Aun-
que no se consideran propiamente fósiles humanos,
se asocian estrechamente con la actividad de homíni-
dos anteneandertales.

in Europe, it is believed that the Neanderthal
appeared in this region about 230,000 years and dis-
appeared about 35,000 years ago.
In the Cova del Bolmor, and archeological
site located 2 km southeast of Tavernes de la
Valldigna, in the Valencian Community, the old-
est remains of Neanderthal were found, dated
in the Lower Paleolithic; they include tools and
bones of prey that were dated 350,000 BC. Even
though they are not proper human fossils, they
are closely associated to the activities of the pre-
Neanderthal hominids.
