Pagoda del perfume
Situada a 60 km de Hanoi, se trata de un complejo
de pagodas y de altares budistas edificados en la
montaña. Se accede a este lugar tras un recorrido
en barca. La Pagoda del Perfume es el principal
sitio de adoración para los budistas vietnamitas.

La Bahía de Ha Long
Un destino muy especial en Vietnam es la hermo-
sa Bahía de Ha Long. La singular belleza de esta
bahía ha logrado que sea considerada Patrimonio
Cultural de la Humanidad por la UNESCO desde
1994. Situada en la provincia Qu?ng Ninh, 180 km
al este de Hanoi, la bahía cuenta con formaciones
naturales que llenan de asombro a todo el que las
visita. Se trata de miles de carsos de piedra caliza
junto con islas de distintos tamaños y formas, dis-
tribuidas todas a lo largo de la bahía.
Un escenario tan especial ha dado origen a leyen-
das diversas que tratan de explicar el propósito de
tan intricado y hermoso lugar. Cuenta la leyenda
local que hace muchos años, cuando los vietnami-
tas luchaban contra los invasores chinos, los dio-
ses mandaron una familia de dragones para
ayudarles a defender su territorio. Al ver a los viet-
namitas en esta lucha, los dragones comenzaron a
expulsar joyas y piezas de jade por sus bocas.
Estas joyas se convirtieron en las islas y los carsos
de piedra caliza que cubren la bahía, formando una
muralla natural que les ayudó a repeler a los inva-
sores. De esta manera la gente logró salvaguardar
su tierra y formaron lo que más adelante se con-
vertiría en Vietnam. Después, durante estos tiem-
pos de paz y prosperidad, la familia de dragones

mountain. The way to arrive to this place is after
a trip in a small boat. The Pagoda of the Perfume
is the principal worship place for the
Vietnamese Buddhists.
• The Ha Long Bay
A very special destination in Vietnam is the
beautiful Bay of Ha Long. The unique beauty of
this bay has achieved that it is considered a
Cultural Heritage for the Humanity by the
UNESCO since 1994. Located in the province of
Qu?ng Nin, 180 km to the east of Hanoi, the bay
counts with natural formations that fills with
astonishment to everybody that visits them. It
is about thousands of calcareous stones along
with islands of different sizes and shapes, dis-
tributed all along the bay.
A scenery as special as this one has given origin to
several legends that try to explain the purpose of
sucha beautiful an intricate place. The local legend
tells that long time ago, when the Vietnamese
fought against the Chinese invaders, he gods sent
a family of dragons tohelp themdefend their terri-
tory. Seeing the Vietnamese in this fight, the dra-
gons started to a expel jewels and pieces of jade
through their mouths. These jewels turned into
the islands and the pieces of calcareous stone that
cover the bay, forming a natural wall which helped
them to repel the invaders. This is how the people
were able to safeguard their land and they formed
