The conflicts, however, were far of reaching an
end, since, a fewyears later; the countrywas involved
in another war, this time against the United States
and the military governments of Saigon. During the
15 years of this devastating war there were launched
more tons of bombs over Vietnamthan all the bombs
thrown in the Second World War, and experienced
with chemical and bacteriological weapons.
Today, Vietnam’s economy experiments a
growth over the 8% and the tourism is a signifi-
cant source of the economical peak. Each time
there is more touristic infrastructure and the ten-
dencies of great luxury tourism have started to
establish very quickly in this country.
Along with the independency struggles, some-
thing that has always characterized the Vietnamese
people is their imagination expressed through
several legends. Since a thousand years ago, the
Vietnamese people have passed on from generation
on generation the legend of their origin.
The legend tells that a character named Lac
Long Quan, who possessed a superhuman
strength, was the son of a dragon. Thanks to
numerous victories against aquatic monsters, Lac
Longmarried a fairy named Au Co. From this union
a bag with a hundred eggs was born, which turned,
a little time later, in a hundred kids. Fifty of them
went with their father in the sea, while the other
fifty remained in the mountainous regions with
their mother. The oldest self-proclaimed King and
adopted the name of Hung Vong. This first
monarch gave the name of Van Lang to the nation
that today we know as Vietnam.

Saigón. Durante los 15 años de esta devastadora
guerra se descargaron sobre Vietnam más toneladas
de bombas que todas las arrojadas en la Segunda
Guerra Mundial, y se experimentó con armas quími-
cas y bacteriológicas.
En la actualidad, la economía de Vietnam experi-
menta un crecimiento mayor al 8% y el turismo es
una fuente significativa de auge económico. Cada
vez hay más infraestructura turística y las tenden-
cias del turismo de alto lujo se han comenzado a
establecer rápidamente en este país.
Junto con las luchas de independencia, algo que
siempre ha caracterizado al pueblo vietnamita es su
imaginación expresada a través de múltiples leyen-
das. Desde hace miles de años, el pueblo vietnamita
ha venido transmitiendo de generación en genera-
ción la leyenda de su origen.
Cuenta la leyenda que un personaje llamado Lac
Long Quan, quien poseía una fuerza sobrehumana,
era hijo de un dragón. Gracias a sus numerosas victo-
rias en contra de monstruos acuáticos, Lac Long
pudo casarse con un hada llamada Au Co. De esta
unión vino al mundo una bolsa que contenía cien
huevos, los cuales se convirtieron, poco tiempo des-
pués, en cien niños. Cincuenta de éstos se fueron con
el padre al mar, mientras que los cincuenta restantes
se quedaron en las regiones montañosas con su
madre. El mayor de ellos se autoproclamó rey y
adoptó el nombre de Hung Vong. Este primer monar-
ca le dio el nombre de Van Lang a la nación que cono-
cemos en la actualidad como Vietnam.
