Gastronomía
La cocina vietnamita es especialmente variada; se
dice que existen casi 500 platillos tradicionales entre
los cuales se incluyen carnes de todo tipo de anima-
les y deliciosos platillos a base de vegetales. La comi-
da más típica es el arroz al vapor acompañado de una
amplia selección de verduras, pescado (que es muy
común en Vietnam), carnes y salsas aromáticas. Los
rollos de primavera estilo chino son muy populares,
así como las sopas con diversos ingredientes. El café
en Vietnam es excelente y se toma normalmente
muy concentrado y fuertemente endulzado.
Clima
Es posible visitar Vietnam durante todo el año; cuando
haymal tiempo en el norte, el sur del país disfruta de un
tiempo agradable y viceversa. El sur tiene básicamente
dos tipos de clima: una temporada de lluvias (demayo a
noviembre, con lluviamás abundante en junio y agosto)
y la temporada seca (de diciembre a abril). La épocamás
caliente y húmeda es de febrero a mayo. La costa cen-
tral tiene clima seco de mayo a octubre y el tiempo es
más húmedo de diciembre a febrero. Las zonas demon-
taña sonmuchomás frías y las temperaturas aquí bajan
significativamente durante el invierno.
El norte tiene dos tipos de clima: inviernos fríos y
húmedos (de noviembre a abril) y veranos calientes
(de mayo a octubre).

Gastronomy
The Vietnamese cuisine is specially assorted; it is
said that there are over 500 traditional dishes
among which there aremeats of all kind of animals
and delicious dishes based on vegetables. The
most typical food is the steamed rice served with a
wide selection of vegetables, fish (very common in
Vietnam), meats and aromatic sauces. The spring
rolls Chinese style are very popular, as well as the
soups with several ingredients. The coffee in
Vietnam is excellent and it is normally very con-
centrated and strongly sweetened.
Weather
It is possible to visit Vietnam all year long; when
there is bad weather in the north, the south of the
country enjoys an agreeable weather and vice
versa. The south has basically two kinds of
weather: a rainy season (from May to November,
with substantial rain in June and August) and the
dry season (from December to April). The hottest
and dampest season is from February to May. The
central coast has dry weather from May to
October and the weather is damper from
December to February. The mountain areas are
much colder and the temperatures here descend
significantly during winter.
The north has two kinds of climate: cold and
damp winters (from November to April) and hot
summers (fromMay to October).
