Deira, el distrito comercial al norte del Creek, la Isla Deira
está siendo creada usando la arena del fondo del Golfo.
Si el Palms parece ser una fantástica creación de inge-
niera marítima, otro desarrollo fuera de la costa del Golfo
Árabe, es aunmás destellante. Se le conoce como “El Mun-
do”, y se construye a unas tresmillas fuera de las playas de
Jumeirah, entre El Palm Jumeirah y el PalmDeira.
“TheWorld” es formado por islas de arena en forma de
un mapa terráqueo. Desde lo alto, la forma de “The World”
se aprecia inmediatamente. Compañias e individuos de
varios países representados dentro de “TheWorld” podrán
comprar su propia isla y construir dentro de ella hoteles,
restaurantes, entre otros desarrollos, que representen la
cultura nacional.
El Mall de los Emiratos consta de más de 400 tiendas,
las cuales venden cualquier producto imaginable. Alberga
desde un supermercado Carrefour, Harvey Nicholls,
Debenhams, y un sinnúmero de boutiques de las fir-
mas mas prestigiosas. Así mismo, cuenta también con
varias salas de cine, un centro masivo de diversiones
para niños llamado Magic Planet y decenas de restau-
rantes y cafés.
Otrocentrocomercialmuydestacado, esel BurJuman
dentro de Bur Dubai, en el centro de la ciudad. Este
consta de 300 tiendas departamentales de las firmas
Furthernorth inDubai, abovePort RashidandDubai
Creek, the even larger PalmDeira is under construction
in the waters of the Gulf. This is the third and final part
of the Palm trilogy. Just off-shore from Deira, the old
bustling commercial district north of the Creek, Deira
Island is being created, using dredged sand from the
bottomof the Gulf.
If the Palms appear to be fantastic feats of marine
engineering, another scheme out in the waters of the
Arabian Gulf, is evenmoremind-boggling. This is known
as The World. It is being constructed about three miles
off Jumeirah Beach, in between The Palm Jumeirah and
PalmDeira.
“The World” consists of sand islands constructed
from dredged sand, in the shape of a world map! From
the sky, the shape of TheWorldwill be clear. Businesses
and individuals fromthe various countries represented
in TheWorld, will be able to purchase their ownparticu-
lar island and build hotels, restaurants etc to represent
their national culture on it.
The biggest, the Mall of the Emirates, has over 400
shops selling every product imaginable. It even has a
Carrefour supermarket, Harvey Nicholls, Debenhams
and a myriad designer-label shops, plus a multi-screen
cinema. It also has a massive children’s play area called
Magic Planet, anddozens of cafes and restaurants.
