Aparte del Burj-al-Arab, completado en el año 2000,
existe también el bello Jumeriah Beach Hotel; las líneas
fluidas del las torres gemelas Emiratos Jumeriah; El Banco
Nacional de Dubai Carlos Ott’s; Hilton Dubai Creek y varios
otros. De hecho, existen hoteles de lujo de 5 estrellas a
largo y ancho de Dubai.
Los escritorios de dibujo de firmas arquitectónicas
a nivel mundial están repletos de planes para construir
ciudades-dentro-de-ciudades en Dubai. Estos planes
incluyen también proyectos en las aguas del Golfo Pér-
sico. El Palm Jumeriah, la primera de tres islas en forma
de palmera ya ha sido completado, usando arena extraída
desde el fondo del océano para ser llevada a la superficie
y formar una isla. Cerca de 5000 villas y departmentos de
lujo han sido construidos dentro de Palm Jumeriah. Tam-
bién cuenta con hoteles, boutiques y otras amenidades.
En frente de Palm Jumeriah, sobre la costa de la Playa

llas. Detrás de ellos se encuentra el espectacular Dubai
Marina, la marina más grande del mundo, la cual está
cercada por departamentos de lujo y torres de oficinas.
La segunda isla de esta trilogía, El Palm Jebel Ali,
está siendo construida dentro del paseo marítimo de
Dubai, a un costado del puerto Jebel Ali, a unos 45 mi-
nutos al sur del centro de Dubai, en ruta a Abu Dhabi.
El paseo marítimo de Dubai está creado con la visión
de que se convierta en una entrada sin paralelos para resi-
dentes y huéspedes, una marina que albergue hoteles de
lujo, villas a nivel del mar, departamentos, sitios de buceo,
una enorme variedad de centros de entretenimiento, y
hasta casas construidas sobre el agua, las cuales tomarían
la forma de unpoema escrito por SuMajestadSheikMoha-
mmed bin Rashid al Maktoum, el visionario líder de Dubai.
Al norte de Dubai, por encima de el Puerto Rashid y
el Dubai Creek, el aún más grande Palm Deira está bajo

up to forman island, in the shape of a palm, as the build-

In front of Palm Jumeirah, along the shores of
Jumeirah Beach, there is a string of 5-Star Luxury
hotels. Behind them is the superb Dubai Marina,
the world’s largest marina, which is surrounded by
luxury apartment towers and offices.
The second island of The Palmtrilogy, The PalmJeb-
el Ali, is being constructed inDubaiWaterfront, near the
man made harbour of Jebel Ali, about 45 minutes drive
southof central Dubai, en route toAbuDhabi.
