Atracando en Fort Williams, a la orilla de Loch
Linnhe, alcanzamos el castillo de Inverlochy transfor-

rado nos transportan en el tiempo.
Visitamos los Highlands centrales, dramáticos y
salvajes, con sus altas montañas esculpidas por anti-
guos glaciares, sus valles áridos, sus cascadas y
torrentes y sus estaciones de esquí. Descubrimos el
teatral escenario montañoso de Glen Coe, donde
tuvo lugar la masacre del clan McDonald por el clan
Campbell en 1692.
Desde Fort Williams hasta Culzean Castle
Dejando el canal Caledonian navegamos por la costa de
las regiones de Argyl y Bute, hermosas colinas sembra-
das de bosques interrumpidos por verdes praderas,
descubriendo intrigantes puertos: Oban, con sus casas
blancas que se reflejan en el mar, su intensa vida turís-
tica, sus restaurantes y su excelente marina;
Lochgilphead, que alcanzamos después de rodear la
Península de Kinty y costeando la hermosa Isla de
Arran, en el fondo de una profunda ría donde las mare-
as descubren la arena negra; Invercaray, que desafía el

Linnhe, we reach the Inverlochy Castle transformed
into an hotel where the flavor of yesteryear, the
Scottish elegance, its excellent cuisine and its tradi-
cional decor all combine to transport us back in time.
We visit the central Highlands, dramatic and wild,
with their high mountains sculpted by ancient gla-
ciers, their arid valleys, their waterfalls and torrents
and ski resorts. There we find the mountainous dra-
matic scenery of Glen Coe, where the infamous mas-
sacre of the McDonald clan bymembers of the Campbell
clan took place in 1692.
From Fort Williams to Culzean Castle
Leaving the Caledonian Canal behind, we sail the costal
regions of Argyll and Bute, with their beautiful wooded
hills interspersed with green pastures. We discover
intriguing ports, including Oban, with its white houses
reflected in the sea, its intense tourism, restaurants and
excellent marina; then there is Lochgilphead, reached
after circling the Kintyre Peninsula and sailing along the
coast of the beautiful Isle of Arran, and where from the
bottom of a deep river the tides uncover black sand.
Invercaray, challenging time from its small peninsula,
from which it lifts up, among white houses with black
roofs, its church, its air ofmysterycaressedby the tides, so
far from the high sea, and its castle.
Penetrating the River Clyde we arrive at the great city
of Glasgow, which sprawls over the hills that separate the
north from the south. If Edinburgh is the city of aristo-
crats, Glasgow is the city of workers and industry. Its
