Fraserburgh es considerado el mejor puerto pes-
quero de la región, Banff. Inverness es la última gran
ciudad del norte escondida al final del Moray Firth,
largo estuario de aguas azotadas por los vientos del
norte y hábitat de los delfines nariz-botella.
Dominada por su castillo que vigila la salida del río
Ness, adornada por elegantes casas, su catedral St.
Andrews y un adorable ambiente.
Nos alojamos en Boath House Hotel & Spa, una
elegante casa de campo georgiana en medio de un
gran parque que data de 1850. Allí, el chef, Charlie
Lockley, junto con la dueña Wendy Matheson y su
esposo Don, han creado una excelente reputación
culinaria, reconocido como uno de los mejores 10
restaurantes de Escocia.
Pudimos explorar una parte de la región norte
donde descubrimos los estuarios, el sorprendente
pueblo de Dornoch con su castillo del siglo XV, que
domina la playa y el Royal Golf creado en 1877. En
esa región residen golfistas desde el siglo XVI, y fue
el lugar escogido por Madona para su boda. La cate-
dral medieval data de 1239 y conserva magníficos
vitrales. Allí Madonna bautizó a su hijo en 2001.
Al norte se sitúan el Skibo Castle que hospeda el
exclusivo Carnagie Club, famoso campo de golf con
country club, y el castillo de Dunrobin.

Inverness is the last, large northern city hidden at
the end of Moray Firth, a long estuary of waters
battered by the north winds and habitat to the bot-
tle-nosed dolphins. Inverness is dominated by its
castle that guards the mouth of the Ness River, and
is adorned by elegant homes, the St Andrews
Cathedral and a charming ambiance.
We stay at the Boath House Hotel & Spa, an ele-
gant Georgian country house set in a large park
and dating from 1850. There, the chef, Charlie
Lockley, together with owner Wendy Matheson
and her husband Don, have created an excellent
culinary reputation, and are recognized as one of
the ten best restaurants in Scotland.
We were able to explore a part of the northern
region where we discovered the estuaries, the sur-
prising town of Dornoch with its fifteenth century
castle that dominates the beach and the Royal Golf
created in 1877. Golfers have flocked to the region
since the sixteenth century, and more recently, it
was the site chosen by Madonna for her wedding,
and later for her son’s baptism in 2001. The
medieval cathedral dates from 1239 and has pre-
served its magnificent windows.
To the north lies Skibo Castle, home to the
exclusive Carnagie Club, a famous golf and country
club, and the Dunrobin Castle.
