Desde Edimburgo hasta Saint Andrews
Nuestro barco nos esperaba en la Granton marina, la
mejor y más exclusiva de Escocia. Empezamos a
navegar en el estuario de Forth para descubrir una
costa de suaves colinas que bajan hacia el mar con su
alfombra verde.
Pudimos admirar el gran puente de Forth, paso
hacia el norte, nos detuvimos en Aberdour para visi-
tar su castillo y la preciosa iglesia rodeada por el
cementerio. Y luego alcanzar por carretera el Loch
Leven con su castillo en una isla, donde fue prisione-
ra María Stuart, reina de Escocia en1567.
Stirling es otro de los pueblos de gran encanto,
donde los campos de golf conviven con pastizales
adornados de borregos. En esa zona las mareas des-
cubren inmensas playas y en los puertos las barcas
se quedan encalladas.
Kirkcaldy es un gran puerto, pero, sin duda, la zona
más hermosa es, después de navegar por la Largo Bay,
la costa de Fife, donde se suceden los encantadores
puertos de Elie, Anstruther y Crail, con sus casas típicas
que enfrentan las tremendas tormentas del invierno,
sus callejones empinados que bajan al puerto. Son
aldeas seductoras donde se adormece el tiempo, los

From Edinburgh to Saint Andrews
Our boat waited for us in the GrantonMarina, the finest
and most exclusive in Scotland. We began to navigate
the Forth Estuary only to discover a coast of gentle hills
that slope toward the sea like a green carpet.
We admired the great Forth Bridge, a little toward the
north; we stop in Aberdour to visit its castle and the
beautiful church surrounded by a cemetery. By roadway
we eventually reach Loch Leven with its castle on an
island, and where Mary Stuart, queen of Scotland,was
kept prisoner in 1567.
Stirling is another of the charming towns, where
golf courses coexist with pastures that are dotted with
sheep. In this area the tides uncover immense beaches
and in the ports the boats are run aground on the sand.
Kircaldy is a great port, however; without a doubt,
themost beautiful area, after navigating through Largo
Bay, is the Fife coast where charming port follows port:
Elie, Anstruther and Crail, with their typical houses
that face the tremendous winter storms, and cobble-
stone streets winding down to the harbor. In these
charming villages, time stands still; the pubs and
restaurants create a marine ambiance with an apprecia-
tion of ale, while the rhythm of the tides caresses the
beaches, cliffs and docks.
