Antananarivo
Hablar de Antananarivo es referirse a las tierras
altas centrales situadas entre dos pintorescas coli-
nas a 1,000 metros de altitud; estas representan las
tres cuartas partes de la superficie de Madagascar.
En ellas viven los merina, la etnia que unificó el país
en el siglo XIX. Estos territorios son un compendio
de colores, tal como se expresa en la bandera mal-
gache: el blanco del arroz, el verde de los arrozales y
el rojo de la tierra. Sus múltiples y acogedores par-
ques, naturaleza magnífica y terrazas de arrozales
la convierten en la ciudad más colorida y atractiva
de la isla; mientras que sus palacios, de cuentos de
hadas, y museos, la hacen incomparable para los
viajeros dispuestos a disfrutar de la belleza casi mí-
tica que resguardan los edificios antiguos.

Speaking about Antananarivo means to refer
to the central High Lands, located between two
quaint 1,000 m height hills, representing three
quarters of Madagascar surface. In them, the Me-
rina live, the ethnic group that unified the coun-
try in the XIX century. These territories are a com-
pendium of colors such as it is expressed in the
Malagasy flag: the white of the rice, the green of
the rice fields and the red of the soil. Its many and
cozy parks, magnificent nature and rice terraces
make it the most colorful and alluring city of the
island; while its fairy tale palaces, and museums
make it incomparable for the travelers willing to
enjoy the almost mythical beauty guarded by the
ancient buildings.
