I
t is true that Argentina has Tango, Brazil Samba
and Bossa Nova and Spain owns Flamenco; but
Big Band is one hundred percent Newyorker.
Much more than music transmitting feelings or
making us remember the atmosphere it gives a
country, its people and a time period, this move-
ment doesn’t understand borders.
However, this dynamic tune is not composed
only by musicians that play trombones, trumpets,
clarinets, percussions or saxophones. Its diverse
ramifications are only the beginning of the history
told by various voices that let a mark on a genera-
tion, and more than that, on the entire world.

i bien es cierto que Argentina tiene el tango,
Brasil la Samba y el Bossa Nova y España el
flamenco; la Big Band es ciento por ciento de
Nueva York. Y es que más allá de que la música nos
transmita sentimientos o nos haga recordar la atmós-
fera que se le da a un país, a la gente y a una época,
este movimiento no comprende de barreras.
Pero esta dinámica tonada no es solamente un
grupo grande de músicos que tocan trombones,
trompetas, clarinetes, percusiones o saxofones. Sus
diversas ramificaciones son sólo el inicio de la his-
toria que es contada por voces que dejaron marcada
a una generación, y más que eso, al mundo entero.
