s inevitable pensar en Nueva York cuando se
habla del séptimo arte, imposible no pensar en
aquella escena de The Godfather en donde bala-
cean a Vito Corleone, o dejar de imaginarnos el taxi de
Travis Bickle recorrer la Gran Manzana, o al neurótico
Alvy Singer coquetear por la ciudad con Annie Hall.
Nueva York es la segunda ciudad más importante
en el mundo de la pantalla grande. Los grandes cineas-
tas del siglo XX se inspiraron en esta ciudad para re-
tratar su visión cinematográfica con todo lo que la ciu-
dad ofrece: sus hermosos rincones, sus majestuosas
avenidas, sus diversos barrios y culturas y el intenso
pulso de la ciudad de los rascacielos.
Una inmensa variedad de películas se han filmado
en esta ciudad pero permanecen en nuestra memoria
aquellas que hemos admirado por su gran historia,
perfecta ejecución, reconocimiento de la Academia,
además de su popularidad.

t is impossible to not think of New York when
speaking of cinema, impossible not to think of
that scene in The Godfather where Vito Corleone
is shot, to imagine Travis Bickle’s cab going around
the Big Apple, or the neurotic Alvy Singer flirting all
over the city with Annie Hall.
New York is the second most important city in
the world of the big screen city. The great filmmak-
ers of the twentieth century were inspired by this
city to portray their filmic vision with everything
the city has to offer: its beautiful places, majestic
avenues, various neighborhoods and cultures, and
the intense heartbeat from the city of skyscrapers.
A huge variety of movies have been filmed in
the city, but those who remain in our memory are
the ones we have admired for its great story, perfect
execution, recognition from the Academy, setting
aside its popularity.
