Desde Tarragona hasta Peñíscola
Descubrimos el acogedor Puerto de Cambrils, con su
gran marina, su paseo marítimo con los mejores res-
taurantes y sus antiguos callejones que atestiguan
un largo pasado.
Seguimos hacia el sur a lo largo de la costa plana
del golf de Sant Jordi hasta contornear la zona pan-
tanosa del delta del Ebro. Sus canales y lagunas for-
man el Parque Natural del Ebro, refugio perfecto para
las aves acuáticas, donde hay pueblos que alzan sus
iglesias para dominar la llanura: Riumar es el gerente
de la desembocadura en el Cabo Tortosa y Sant
Carles de la Rápida, al fondo de la Bahía de los
Alfaques, destaca por su hermosa marina, su intenso
pasado árabe y medieval y su iglesia.
Las montañas bajan hacia esa llanura costera
donde los pantanos dieron paso a centros turísticos
como Vianarós y Benicarló, con hoteles y condomi-
nios en primera fila en las largas y hermosas playas
de arena fina.
Surge entonces Peñíscola, verdadero enigma. Un
pueblo fortificado sobre un peñón que flota en el
mar, atado a la tierra por un delgado filamento de tie-
rra, coronado por su fuerte que domina el pueblo
blanco de empinados callejones y de puertas monu-
mentales.
Peñíscola invita a imaginar el pasado protagoni-
zado por los caballeros y las fortalezas, por la larga
ocupación árabe, por la reclusión del Papa Luna,
Benedicto XIII, luchando por la unidad de la iglesia

We discover the cozy Port of Cambrils, with its
great marina, its maritime tour with the best
restaurants and it old alleys that testify a long
past.
We continue towards the south throughout the
flat coast of the golf of Sant Jordi until going
around the swamp zone of the delta of the Ebro. Its
channels and lagoons form the Natural Park of the
Ebro, perfect shelter for the aquatic birds, where
there are towns that rise their churches to domi-
nate the prairie: Riumar is the manager of the
mouth in the Cape Tortosa and Sant Carles de la
Rapida, at the bottom of the Alfaques Bay, stands
out for its beautiful marina, its intense Arab and
medieval past and its church.
The mountains go down toward that coastal
prairie where the swamps gave pass to touristic
centers such as Vianaros and Benicarlo, with
hotels and condominiums in first row in the long
and beautiful beaches of fine sand.
It arises then Peñiscola, true enigma. A forti-
fied town over a rock that floats in the sea, tied to
land by a thin filament of land, crowned by its fort
that dominates the white town of steep alleys and
monumental doors.
Peñiscola invites to imagine the past starred
by the knights and the fortresses, by the long Arab
occupation, by the confinement of the Pope Luna,
Benedict XIII, fighting for the unity of the Catholic
