Desde Peñíscola hasta Valencia
Navegamos a lo largo de las colinas naturales donde
crecen las palmeras, parque protegido donde se
alzan las torres árabes, adornado de lindas calas. La
bella naturaleza bordea el mar azul y las playas pro-
tegidas por las montañas.
Alcanzamos Benicássim y su gran urbanización
de hoteles y condominios a lo largo de sus playas,
Castellón con su gran puerto y el puerto de Sagunt
donde atracamos para visitar la ciudad romana que
brilla por su teatro (siglo I), su castillo que domina
la huerta valenciana perfumada por el azahar de los
naranjos, su muralla y los restos de la ciudad
medieval, su Plaza Mayor, la Judería y las iglesias.
Finalmente entramos en el gran puerto de
Valencia, recientemente restaurado para la Copa
América y que luce una maravillosa organización e
imagen.

Contar Valencia, la feraz, la luminosa y vividora, es
un verdadero rompecabezas, un enigma medieval y
futurista.
Creado por los romanos, su casco antiguo con-
serva las monumentales puertas medievales, la
Lonja (1482-1533) dedicada antiguamente al
comercio de la seda y decorada por elegantes
columnas torcidas que sostienen la arquería del
techo y los monumentos góticos que ilustran el
poderío mercantil de la ciudad.
Sus mercados de estilo modernista acompañan
los edificios de la misma época y en el mercadillo
del encaje las señoras practican el arte del bolillo.
From Peñiscola to Valencia
We sail along the natural hills where the palm
trees grow, protected park where Arab towers arise,
adorned with lovely coves. The beautiful nature
goes round the blue sea and the beaches protected
by the mountains.
We reach Benicassim and its great hotel and
condominium development along its beaches,
Castellon with its grand harbor and the port of
Sagunt where we tied up to visit the roman city
that shines for its theater (century I), its castle that
dominates the Valencian orchard perfumed by the
orange blossom, its wall and the remains of the
medieval city, its Main Square, the Jewish quarter
and the churches.
Finally we enter in the great harbor of Valencia,
recently restored for the America Cup and display a
wonderful organization and image.
Valencia
Count Valencia, the ferocious, the luminous and
resourceful, is a real puzzle, amedieval and futuristic.
Created by the Romans, its ancient centre pre-
serves the huge medieval doors; the Lonja (1482-
1533) dedicated formerly to the silk commerce and
decorated by elegant twisted columns that sup-
port the roof’s arcade and the gothic monuments
that illustrate the mercantile power of the city.
Its modern style markets accompany the
buildings of the same time and in the lace market
the ladies practice the arte of the bobbin lace.
