its splendor until the XVII th century. It fell in
the forgetfulness until its monumental zone
was discovered by the tourism, and was declared
City World Heritage in 1996.
Settled over a rock, dominated for the castle,
its bay work of streets, squares and corners visits
the old houses with lattice windows, churches,
and convents while the rounds allow admiring
the splendid spectacle of the sickles of the Jucar
and the Huecar.
Here the convent of Saint Pablo (XVIIth cen-
tury) rises, today state-run of Tourism, tied to
the city by a large bridge fromwhich we find the
best view of the hanged houses. The interior o
the cathedral impresses for the altars, the forge
and the coffered ceiling soffits.
The Mangana Tower, the hermitages and
churches, the museums and restaurants make
of the Cuenca an ideal destination to visit the
fabulous region of castles and beautiful
nature.

hasta que su zona monumental fue descubierta
por el turismo, y ha fue declarada Ciudad
Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 1996.
Asentada sobre un peñón, dominada por el
castillo, su entramado de calles, plazas y rincones
visita los caserones con ventanas enrejadas, igle-
sias, conventos mientras las rondas dejan admirar
el espléndido espectáculo de las hoces del Júcar y
el Huécar.
Aquí se alza el convento de San Pablo (siglo
XVII), hoy Parador de Turismo, atado a la ciudad por
un largo puente desde el cual encontramos la
mejor vista de las casas colgadas. El interior de la
catedral impresiona por los altares, la herrería y los
plafones artesonados.
La Torre Mangana, las ermitas e iglesias, los
museos y restaurantes hacen de Cuenca un desti-
no ideal para visitar la fabulosa región de castillos
y bella naturaleza.
España no deja de sorprender, cada región
cuenta con su rico pasado romano, árabe y
cristiano. Cada época ha dejado impresionantes
huellas arquitectónicas y se siguen haciendo
grandes realizaciones que conmueven al mundo,
como lo ha hecho ese país a lo largo de la
historia.
