ara el desarrollo del A1 se tomaron los elemen-
tos estéticos de la firma, adaptados exitosa-
mente a unas medidas más reducidas. El perfil
es más similar a un pequeño cupé que a un hatchback
de tres puertas con un enfoque personal.
La compuerta trasera abarca todo el ancho del
auto, incluyendo las atractivas luces posteriores. El
frente luce como un conceptual, con los faros delan-
teros iluminados por una línea de luces LED durante
el día y faros bixenón de alta intensidad por la noche.
En cuanto a seguridad incluye un juego comple-
to de bolsas de aire de última generación, sistema de
control de estabilidad ESP y una avanzada transmi-
sión automática S-Tronic de siete cambios.
Un punto fuerte en todo Audi es la calidad en el
interior, y se puede decir que en el A1 es muy alta, de-
jando en claro que no se hicieron ahorros en este as-
pecto. El tablero está realizado en materiales de tacto
suave y apariencia resistente, puestos juntos con un
ensamble de primer orden. El panel de instrumentos
es simple, lógico y completo. Los asientos tapizados
en cuero son firmes y ofrecen excelente soporte late-
ral; y permiten acomodar a cuatro adultos.
El equipamiento incluye un excelente sistema de
audio con pantalla retráctil a color, con cambiador de
cedé, lector mp3 y entrada auxiliar, conexión para re-
productores iPod y tarjetas SD; catorce bocinas lite-
ralmente envuelven a los ocupantes con un sonido de
gran calidad.
El motor tiene un desplazamiento de 1.4 litros y
entrega 122 hp, este propulsor se presenta razona-
blemente brioso; pero la estrella es su excelente co-
municación con la caja de siete cambios, que permite
aprovechar los recursos del motor al máximo, con gran
suavidad y un consumo de combustible muy reducido.

elements of the firmwere taken and successfu-
lly adapted to a smaller scale. The profile is re-
sembles that of a smaller coupé rather than a three-
door hatchback with a personal focus.
The rear hatch embraces the entire width of the
vehicle, including the attractive tail lights. The front
features a conceptual look, with the headlights being
illuminated by a row of LED lights during the day, and
high-intensity bixenon headlights during the night.
As far a security measures go, the vehicle inclu-
des a complete set of last-generation air-bags, ESP
stability control system, and an advanced seven gear
S-Tronic automatic transmission system.
A strong point of every Audi vehicle is the quali-
ty of its interior, and it can be said that in the A1 the
quality is exceptional; making it clear that attention
to detail was not spared. The dashboard is fabrica-
ted with materials soft to the touch, and features a
tough appearance, set side to side an ensemble of the
highest order. The control panel is simple, logical and
complete. The leather furnished seats are firm and
offer an excellent lateral support; they can accommo-
date four people.
The vehicle also features a superb sound system
with a retractable color screen, CD changer, mp3 reader
and auxiliary ports; it is iPod compatible and accepts
SD cards. Fourteen speakers literally envelop the driver
and companions with excellent sound quality.
The A1 is powered by a reasonably lively 1.4 L, 122
hp engine; but it truly shines by the excellent commu-
nication it possesses with the seven gear shift box,
which allows for the driver to exploit the vehicles re-
sources to their maximum degree, offering a smooth
ride and a reduce fuel intake.
