por los angostos callejones desembocamos en la plaza del
mercado que es el centro de la ciudad desde 1254.
En la plaza encontramos el poso Bamberka, la fuente
de Persephone y el ayuntamiento reconstruido en 1560.
Visitamos los restos de la muralla, el imponente castillo
del Emperador construido en el siglo XIX, el teatro y su
jardín, dando los aires de grandeza a la ciudad cuna de
la nación polaca. En la isla entre los ríos Warta y Cybina
encontramos la parte más antigua, Ostrow Tumski, con
sus casas bajas y su catedral de San Pedro y San Pablo,
finalmente llegamos a Sopot.
Polonia es un libro de pinturas barrocas, de arquitec-
tura gótica, de escenas románticas y de encuentros con
la gente que sonríe con algode tristeza en el corazón. Han
vivido otros momentos de calamidades, epopeyas de re-
yes o héroes, amores épicos y batallas sangrientas pero
los polacos son partes de un maravilloso viaje pasional al
filo de los callejones, ciudades y murallas marcadas con
sentimentalismo. Cada uno de sus pueblos y ciudades
son las joyas de esa senda, con sus hermosas fachadas
que vibran al son de los recuerdos de tanta historia y ba-
tallas. Polonia es un joyero de emociones.
Sanislaw. As we walked through the alleys, we
came into the market square, which has been in
place since 1254.
In the plaza we found the Bamberka well, the
Persephone fountain, and the town hall, rebuilt
in 1560. We visited the imposing castle of the
Emperor built in the 19th century, and the the-
ater and garden that exuded Polish greatness.
Between the Wartand Cybina rivers we found the
ancient city of Ostrow Tumski and the cathedral
of Saint Paul and Saint Peter. Finally we arrived
at Sopot.
Poland is a book of baroque paintings, of gothic
architecture, or romantic scenes and encounters
with people who smile with a bit of sadness in
their hearts. They have lived through tumultuous
times, reigns of kings and heroes, epic battles. But,
the Poles form part of a wonderful and passion-
ate journey. Each of its town and cities is a jewel
amongst the vast land. Its beautiful facades vi-
brating to the rhythm of history and battle. Poland
is a jewelry box of emotions.
