Vlady
(1920 Rusia-2005 México), el pintor vagabundo
en busca de las ideas
Deportado de Siberia, con un exilio en Bruselas y
París, el 4 de septiembre de 1941. Hijo del escritor Vic-
tor Serge, el pintor obtuvo su visa en México gracias
al general Lázaro Cárdenas, cuando cumplía 21 años
(Adolfo Gilly, 2007). Es, de este modo, un ruso muy
mexicano, indispensable en tiempos de búsqueda de
nuevas expresiones universales, realistas y surrealis-
tas. Su paleta la llenan los colores de las intensidades
tropicales, del horizonte de volcanes. Vlady fue uno de
los mayores pintores contemporáneos de México. La
obra que lo consuma es un mural que llevó diez años
de trabajo de más de dos mil metros cuadrados en la
Biblioteca Lerdo de Tejada, que aloja la segunda heme-
roteca más importante del país.
Marc Chagall
(Vitebsk, 1887 - Saint-Paul-de-
Vence, 1985), Su intuición lo llevo a París en 1910,
su proceso creativo madura en Francia. Regresó a
Rusia entusiasmado con la revolución, participó
activamente en la transformación cultural. Rompió
con los constructivistas (pintores y escultores ins-
pirados en la revolución), regresó a la Europa cen-
tral, es una ruptura estética, pues Chagall no le da
al arte otra función que su contenido sensible. So-
brepone lo esencial a lo superficial, descubre seres
donde nadie los ve. Simbolista, entre la realidad de
sus infantiles vivencias en su aldea campesina, su-
rrealista y realista mágico irreductible.

canoes fill your palette. Vlady was one of the great-
est contemporary painters of Mexico. The work that
consumes it is a mural that took ten years of work
of more than two thousand square meters in library

tant newspaper library in the country
