Hay un proyecto de utilización de diques para re-
gular el problema de las inundaciones. Tal vez no sea
sino un sueño -habida cuenta de la proverbial inefi-
ciencia de los proyectos de la Administración italia-
na- esperemos que ese sueño llegue antes de que el
cambio climático agrave la voracidad del mar y se
lleve por delante a esta leyenda viva.
Cuna del arte y de la música
Venecia goza de una fama legendaria por su am-
plio patrimonio artístico y largo historial como refe-
rencia de la pintura europea.
La riqueza de los poderosos de la ciudad (la Igle-
sia, los políticos y ciertos comerciantes) permitió
mantener un prolongado patrocinio sobre pintores,
arquitectos y demás artistas, desde Gentile Bellini
hasta Francesco Guardi, pasando por muchos gran-
des artistas.
Curiosamente, muchos de estos artistas habían
nacido en otras localidades y acudieron a Venecia
atraídos por su pujanza.
El estilo de los sucesivos pintores de Veneciaman-
tuvo algunas características comunes (colorido cálido
y rico) que irradiaron su influencia por media Europa.
La llamada “Escuela veneciana” influyó en maestros
tan diversos como Rubens y Velázquez, y modeló en
parte el estilo Barroco del Siglo XVII.

Venice enjoys a legendary fame because of its
wide range of artistic heritage and long history as
a reference for European painting.
The wealth of the city’s powerfull (the church,
politicians and certainmerchants) allowed tomain-
tain a long sponsorship over painters, architects
and other artists, from Gentile Bellini to Francesco
Guardi, throughout many great artists.
Curiously, many of these artists had been
born elsewhere and came to Venice drawn by
its vigor.
The style of the following Venice painters kept
some main characteristics (warm and rich color)
which spread their influence around half of Europe.
The so called “Venetian School” influenced very di-
verse teachers like Rubens andVelázquez and shaped
inmost part the baroque style of the XVII century.
