Steve Jobs y el iPad
Corría apenas el año 2003 cuando, durante la ex-
posición “Diseño en el arte precolombino”, conocí al
Ing. Carlos Kubli García, a quien sorprendí un día entre
semana fotografiando las vitrinas de la exposición. Le
advertí, sin conocerlo aún, que estaba prohibido to-
mar fotografías sin solicitar permiso al INAH y pagar
los correspondientes impuestos. Luego de sancionar
la fotografía –a lo que me contestó con desfachatez
que se lo advirtiera yo a su jefa, la directora del Palacio
de Minería, quien era en aquel tiempo la contadora Elia
Macedo de la Concha, hermana del procurador, el gene-
ral y licenciado Rafael Macedo de la Concha–, fue el Ing.
Kubli quien me advirtió aquel afortunado día del desa-
rrollo del iPad, pues recién había regresado de estudiar
la Maestría en Desarrollo Asistido por Computadora en
Cambridge, Inglaterra. Pues bien, a partir de entonces
comprendí que invertir en desarrollar contenidos edu-
cativos multimedia sería una inversión segura a media-
no plazo, y fue él mismo quien dirigió nuestro proyecto.
Desde la presentación de Steve Jobs del iPad y el iPhone
en 2006, las bibliotecas comenzaron a desarrollar su
división electrónica, pues el e-Book ya había nacido.

It was the year 2003 when during the “Diseño en el

which I warned him, without knowing him yet, that it
was forbidden to take photographswithout due autho-
rizationfromINAHandthepaymentofthecorrespond-
ing taxes; after sanctioning the photograph he rudely
responded I should warn his boss, the director of the
Palacio de Mineria, who back then was Elia Macedo de
la Concha, sister of Attorney General Rafael Macedo de
la Concha, it was Eng. Kubli who on that lucky day told
meaboutthedevelopmentoftheiPad,hehadjustcome
back fromCambridge Englandafter studdingamasters
in “Assisted computer development”, from that mo-
mentonIunderstoodthattoinvestinthedevelopment
of “multimedia educational contents” would make for
a safe investment in a medium term and it was him
who directed the project from that moment and until
the presentation of the iPad and the iPhone in 2006 by
Steve Jobs, it was then that libraries began to develop
their electronic areas, the eBookwas born.
