Las nuevas tecnologías han dado lugar al nacimien-
to de nuevas formas de aprendizaje; es así como desde
hace algún tiempo las bibliotecas han abierto su divi-
sión electrónica, en la cual miles y miles de textos se
hospedan esperando ser consultados. El libro de papel
no ha sido ni creo que sea desplazado en un mediano
plazo; sin embargo, el libro electrónico está rompiendo
record todos los días. El e-Book ofrece hoy la oportu-
nidad de ser leído de manera inmediata en toda la faz
de la Tierra. Son las grandes bibliotecas, como la del
Congreso de los Estados Unidos, las que nos arrojan es-
tos datos. Los libros antiguos han sido escaneados por
Google y hoy es Amazon la distribuidora de títulos más
grande del mundo, compitiendo con Cengage Learning,
Ebsco, Sony, Barnes & Noble y otros por un nuevo mer-
cado de dimensiones inconmensurables. Ebsco ase-
gura poseer en el mercado norteamericano el 90% de
las bibliotecas como clientes, mientras que en Europa
abarca hasta el 92%. La comercialización comienza con
el inventario de oferta, es decir, se venden paquetes de
contenidos determinados a precios sumamente bajos.
Por ejemplo, la FCAS tiene hoy a disposición de todos
los usuarios de las bibliotecas de la Coordinación Nacio-
nal de Bibliotecas –que suman 7,100 unidades– los 45
títulos en español, y hasta un millón de veces, por un
costo de sólo $12,000.00 m.n.

new ways of learning, this is why for some time now
libraries have opened an electronic area where thou-
sands and thousands of texts reside, waiting to be
consulted electronically; the hard cover book hasn’t
been, and I don’t’ think it will be, replaced, at least in
the medium term, nevertheless the electronic book
is breaking records every day. The eBook offers today
the opportunity to be read immediately anywhere in

Library of The United States the ones that give us this
data, ancient books have been scanned by Google and
today Amazon is the largest distributor of titles in the
world, competing with Cengage Learning and Ebsco,
Sony, Barnes & Noble andmany others for a newmar-
ket of immeasurable dimensions, still being immense
it will certainly keep growing without ever stopping.
Ebsco says it possesses 90% of the American library
market as costumers and in Europe they say they are
close to 92%, the marketing begins with the offer of
inventory, packages are sold with determined con-
tents at very low prices, for example the Fundacion
Cultural Armella Spitalier has today at the disposal of
all users of the National Library Coordination which
are seven thousand and one hundred units 52 titles
in Spanishup to amillion times for $12,000.00 pesos.
