C
onsiderándome una amante de la naturale-
za y bióloga de profesión, uno de mis sue-
ños hechos realidad fue estar en Amazonas;
lugar mágico, lleno de vida y uno de los lugares de
nuestro planeta más interesantes y representativos
en ecosistemas naturales e historia evolutiva tanto
de plantas como de animales. La Amazonia es la sel-
va tropical más grande del planeta, ocupa cerca del
60% del territorio brasileño. Representa dos tercios
de los bosques de la tierra, que se convierte en tres
millones y medio de kilómetros cuadrados de sue-
lo brasileño. ¡Sólo el estado de Amazonas tiene una
extensión territorial donde cabría todo el continen-
te europeo! La Amazonia se ubica en ocho estados
del país, además de la Amazonia Internacional, que
incluye los países sudamericanos, los cuales contie-
nen parte de la selva en su territorio. Es un lugar
donde la biodiversidad es muy extensa y la abun-
dancia es inimaginable.

onsidering myself a lover of nature and
biologist by profession, one of my great-
est dreams came true when I travelled to
the Amazon; a magical place filled with life and
one of the most interesting spots of the planet,
which is the most representative natural echo
system, it holds with in the evolutional history
of plants and wildlife. The Amazon is the greatest
tropical jungle of the planet, it occupies nearly
60% of the Brazilian territory and represents two
thirds of the rain forests on Earth, 3 million and
a half square kilometers of Brazilian soil. Inside
the Amazon you could fit the whole European
continent! this place is located in eight states of
the country besides the international Amazon
which includes South American extensions that
have part of the jungle inside their territory. It
is a place where bio diversity extends and where
abundance is unimaginable.
