Día 3
Six a.m. and we were up. Little blue birds were
flying outside the window. We could barely keep
awake when we got on the boat that would take us
to an expedition to Lake HatumPosa, a beautiful
and intricate mirror of water that has the shape of a
horse shoe. If you love to bird watch, in this ride you
can see an enormous amount of any type of birds:
hawks, elegant herons, swallows and cormorants,
that At the hunting descend swiftly over the river,
and the strangest of them all: the camungos.
They seem like clumsy turkeys, but it is not
the case; they fly skillfully, they possess a horn in
their heads and its most intriguing characteristic
is the emission of a strange acute and high sound
when they perceive danger or other abnormal-
ity. So much surroundingnature restores the opti-
mism and positive energy.
We began to get ready for lunch back at the
cruise. The chef on board surprised us with jumbo
prawns in corn pepian and coconut, accompanied
by a mango salad. We used the afternoon to rest and
sunbathe on the roof; Julio told us we would take
a hike through the jungle, near the HatumPosav-
illage. We began walking through the jungle, the
sight, became sharper, I could perceive more colors
and differentiate things that passed unnoticed be-
fore. Would this be an invitation of nature? Offered
to remind us our origins?
As we continue to walk through the jungle, the
tour guide would patiently make a pause and ex-
plain the medicinal use of every tree and plant, as
well as the importance of this reserve to the locals.
The woods were like a great natural pharmacy. We
returned to the Acqua exhausted. When the after-
noon finalized, we took the small boats to navigate
on the PacayaRiver. The sun strained amongst
the branches of the trees; the capuccine, friar and
howling monkeys peeped out to the sunset and
were curious around new visitors. The particular-
ity they have is a strong sharp sound used as a sign
to mark their territory; added to others animals
that wake up when the sun hides.
Día 3
Seis de la mañana y arriba. Unos pequeños pá-
jaros color azul revoloteaban en la ventana. Recién
pudimos despertarnos del todo al subir al bote que
nos llevaría por una expedición al Lago Hatum Posa,
un hermoso e intrincado espejo de agua en forma de
herradura. Si usted es un amante de las aves, en este
paseo podrá avistar una enorme cantidad de pájaros
como halcones, elegantes garzas, golondrinas, cor-
moranes, que al cazar descienden en picada sobre el
río, y los más extraños de todos: los camungos.
Parecen grandes pavos torpes, pero no es el
caso; vuelan de manera diestra, poseen un cuerno
en su cabeza y su característica más llamativa es la
de producir un extraño sonido agudo y alto cuando
perciben un peligro u otra anormalidad. Tanta natu-
raleza y vida pura circundante se vuelven optimismo
y energía positiva para uno.
Volvimos al barco para el almuerzo. El chef a bordo
nos sorprendió con unos langostinos jumbo con pepián
de choclo y coco acompañado de una ensalada de man-
go. La tarde la guardamos para descansar y tomar sol en
la azotea del barco; Julio nos avisó que emprenderíamos
una caminata a través de la jungla, cerca del poblado
Hatum Posa. Fuimos a pie por la selva. La vista, a estas
alturas, se volviómás aguda, percibíamos más colores y
diferenciábamos cosas que antes pasaban inadvertidas
para nuestros ojos. ¿Será la invitación de la naturaleza,
ofrecida para recordarnos nuestro origen?
A medida que íbamos recorriendo la selva, el guía
se detenía pacientemente para explicar el uso medi-
cinal de cada árbol y planta con el que dábamos y la
importancia que tenían para los habitantes del lugar.
El bosque era su gran farmacia natural. Volvimos al
Acqua extenuados. Al finalizar la tarde, tomamos las
lanchas para navegar el río Pacaya. El sol se colaba,
apenas, entre las ramas de los árboles; los monos ca-
puchinos, frailes y aulladores estaban asomados al
ocaso y curioseaban a los nuevos visitantes. Los aulla-
dores tienen la particularidad de emitir un grito muy
fuerte y agudo como seña para marcar su territorio;
sumados a otros animales que despiertan con la caída
del sol dan inició a un concierto silvestre.
