Los bancos de hielo se formaban en algunas par-
tes, observamos 10 osos que caminaban hacia el mar
seguramente para averiguar el estado del agua, si
pronto se acercara el momento para salir a cazar y en-
contrar su manjar.
De regreso y viendo que había movimiento en la
“cárcel” de los osos, Pat, mi guía, digno de ser un es-
pecialista del National Geographic por su gran conoci-
miento de la zona y de los osos polares, me llevó a ver
cómo estaban empacando una osa con sus grandes
hijos en unas redes por helicóptero.
Fue impresionante verlos suspendidos en el aire y
llevados hasta un punto en la tundra, como bolsas de
mercancía, medio dormidos pero conscientes de su
nueva experiencia.
Esos tres osos habían sido capturados en las ca-
lles de Churchill, a donde fueron en busca de comida y
habían aterrorizado a la gente porque son auténticos
animales salvajes, muy peligrosos y agresivos, aun-
que no lo parezcan. Ahora, los estaban regresando a
donde pertenecían, donde desde el helicóptero había-
mos visto a sus compañeros correr.

, Pat, my guide, worthy enough to be
a National Geographic specialist for its great knowl-
edge of the area and of polar bears, took me to see
how they were packing in big nets on a helicopter a
female bear with her big off springs.
It was impressive to see them suspended in the
air and taken to a certain spot in the tundra, like
merchandise bags, half asleep but aware of their
new experience.
These three bears had been captured in the
streets of Churchill, where they would be searching
for food and had terrified the people for being au-
thentic, wild and aggressive animals, even though
they don’t seem it. Now, they were returning them
to where they belonged, where from the helicopter
we had seen their partners run.
