or segundo año consecutivo, la Europea celebró
con gran éxito durante los meses de Agosto y
Septiembre, la segunda edición de su Feria de
Mezcal. Ésta segunda edición es el resultado del éxito
obtenido el año pasado en el impulso de una categoría
tan importante para México actualmente.
La palabra mezcal viene de los vocablos náhuatl
metl o meztl (maguey) e ixcalli (cocer), literalmente
el significado es “maguey cocido”. Existen más de 100
variedades de maguey o agave, la que se utiliza para
la elaboración de este producto es tobalá o espadín.
Uno de los puntos fundamentales que se le dedico
a esta importante categoría fue la educación sobre
esta bebida milenaria y autentica mexicana que re-
presenta el esfuerzo y la dedicación transmitidas de
generación en generación en cada una de en las dis-
tintas regiones productoras.

or the second year in a row, La Europea cele-
brated with great success during the months
of August and September, the second edition
of the Mezcal Fair. This second edition is the result
of its success last year in the momentum of a very
important category for Mexico today.
The word mezcal comes from the Nahuat len-
guaje: metl or meztl (maguey) and Ixcalli ( cook ),
which literally means “ cooked maguey”. There are
over 100 varieties of maguey or agave that is used
for the preparation of this product, Tobalá or sprat.
One of the key points dedicated to this im-
portant category was the education about this
ancient and authentic Mexican beverage that
represents the effort and dedication passed from
generation to generation in different regions
throughout the country.
