Situado a 200 metros bajo el nivel del mar, con 55
kilómetros de circunferencia, es una importante reser-
va de agua de Israel, utilizada para casas y campos.
Visitamos Tiberias, una ciudad creada por Herodes An-
tipas en el primer siglo d.C., donde las mezquitas co-
habitan con las iglesias, las sinagogas, los manantiales
de aguas calientes y tumbas sagradas de famosos
rabinos como Maimonides, Meir Ba’al Hanes y Akiva.
Exploramos la tranquila Costa Este, y navegamos
hacia el norte donde la orilla toma el tono verde de los
pastizales. El Monte de las Beatitudes, donde Jesús
dio su sermón, domina la región y abordamos en el
sitio de la multiplicación de los panes y peces, donde
ahora se alza una pequeña iglesia con su soberbio
mosaico que data del siglo V.
Capernaum, nuestra última etapa, luce las rui-
nas de una antigua sinagoga ricamente decorada
y la casa de San Pedro donde vivía Jesús. Era como
regresar en el tiempo gracias a esos muros construi-
dos hace más de dos mil años y que señalan dónde y
quién pasó por aquí. Es un lugar intrigante a la orilla
del lago, cargado de la energía de las oraciones que
lo han saturado durante siglos.
Seguimos nuestro recorrido en coche hasta llegar a
Mizpe Hayamim, un hotel anidado en las montañas de
la Alta Galilea, con vista hacia la Meseta del Golán, un
elegante tipo de Kibutz que produce lo que consume
en su granja. Con una suntuosa vista sobre Rosh Pinna
y el Valle del Jordán donde se extienden los viñedos, el
Mizpe Hayamim es un lugar de encanto en esas mon-
tañas dominadas por el Har Meron, el pico más alto de
Israel con 1,208 metros, al pie del cual se encuentra la
tumba de Shimon Bar Yochai.

Capernaum, our last stage, shines the ruins of
an old synagogue richly decorated and San Pedro’s
house where Jesus lived. It was as returning more
than two thousand years ago in the time thanks to
those built walls and that they point out where and
who happened here. It is an intriguing place on the
lake´
s bank, loaded with the energy of the sentences
that have saturated him during centuries.
